A few years ago Google Earth added a 3D cities feature and has added locations every year. In case you missed this nifty tool, if you go to a location that has been 3d mapped (yellow triangles) the 360 pan tilt view provides some really nice terrain table ideas . Here's a shot a bit north of Caen.

For air combat games an easy way to get SAM SITES, AIRFIELDS, etc. is to find the real thing, copy the picture and print it on adhesive lable paper. You can then stick it to a metal washer and bingo! Instant air defenses.

Using the same technique you can copy ocean, ground textures etc. and put them on your small figure bases (I use this for 3/6mm ground combat and 1/3000 warships). Add a couple bits of lichen on the ground ones if you wish and you have all you need.

spiffy. I've used Google Earth for maps for some time and will keep an eye out for the yellow triangles.
