Starting on a Crete project with a friend. I remember there was a thread here on the correct uniforms for the Fallschirmjagers. I believe the consensus was a mix with the new splinter camo being in the majority but still some of the green smock? Both with feldgrau pants. Did the glider troops wear the same uniform as the Fallschirmjagers? What about color, would it also be predominately the splinter camo? As always, ahead of time, thanks. |

Most of the photos of Crete show the green-gray smock in predominance. Glider troops in smock as john lacour says. |

The green smock was still the most common variety in this campaign. Check out "Fallschirmjager in Crete" by Jean-Yves Nasse for numerous photos. |

Don't forget there were mountain troops too, crash landed by Ju52. 100 Mountain Regiment, I think. |

Green-Gray is the uniform for 1941 Falschirmjagers. Gebirgsjagers wore a darker green uniform. |

As above, most of the FJ in Crete were still in green smocks, a few had the new splinter ones. The Gebirgsjager wore normal field grey army uniforms, with GJ distinctions (climbing boots, puttees, eidelweiss badges, bergemutze caps etc) |

Always appreciate the kindness of fellow gamers, especially true here, thanks guys. The old Flames of War book "Diving Eagles" recommends Vallejo 886 Green-Grey for smock and 830 Feldgrau for trousers and ammo pouches. Any comment? |

Once again my thanks! Bill, Ray and I are thinking about a two table (two different battles) from Crete at a future Recon/Hurricon. And to all will definitely look into the books suggested. |

Perhaps I may even get to play. I did Maleme Airfield in micro at Fall In around 2002 or 2003. One of my favorite WWII subjects. |
