Just curious. From any time, place or period, for whatever reason. Some of mine: 1) Maj. Gen. Julius Caesar (British SYW) 2) General Puke (Sweden Napoleonic Era) 3) Sir Marmaduke Peacock (British Nap) 4) Admiral Sir Cloudsley Shovell (Marl. Era) 5) King Boso of the Carolingian Empire, honorable mention to Louis the Fat and Charles the Simple. 6) There was a Viking called Hafdan "the Generous with Money but Stingy with Food. ." I'm sure I'll think of others. |

I like Colonel Scurry from the ACW and of course Colonel R. G. Pine-Coffin is a perennial favorite. Edit: beaten by Winston Smith as I compose! |

A writer in MWAN many years ago had a Russian commander named Igor Imaslav-Uroslav, which I always rather liked. Horatio Hornblower isn't bad either. |

My favorite from the ACW. Napoleon Jackson Tecumseh Dana. With a name like that you pretty much have to take a military career don't you? |

The Navy dentist who did my crown rework during Kosovo … LT Payne. Or the one who reconstructed my gorin … LT Wang. Once during initial muster for a damage control course, the roster started with Chief Beef, Lieutenant Bennett, and Ensign Benson, after which point the instructor (a Navy senior chief) told the Coast Guard to cut that out. |

My brother and I were both born in USAF hospitals. The OB who delivered my brother was Captain Fear. Even better, his birth record has the prominent ink stamp, all caps, DELIVERED BY FEAR. The OB who delivered me was, I kid you not, Major Slaughter. If that weren't perfect enough, the nurse assisting him was Captain Butcher. |
