Fantastic! The HAWKS really go the extra mile in everything they do. Thanks for encouraging kids to get into the hobby!

Thanks, Eric. I didn't see you and Andrew at Historicon. Were enjoying the one month of good weather in Buffalo?

I agree, one of the best groups out there. Way to grow the hobby HAWKS!

Great to see the happy faces!

marshalGreg20 Jul 2015 7:52 a.m. PST

aaaaand look at those faces! Priceless!
Well done for all involved.
It is great to see to local support, with Ed of TSS helping, to involve the young into the hobby.
Perhaps clubs around the country could model this for each area to bring the young into the Hobby?
There is a lot of "gray hair" out there, so it would be good!

Played a game in the center of the Hawks room and I have to say if anyone is "growing the hobby", it is these folks. Filled with kids young and old, lot of laughter and all around good time had by all in their room. Great job and maybe HMGS needs a new award for "Growing the Hooby"?

Wonderful event – my son remembers that game quite fondly. Hat's off to you guys for all the work you put into it!

My wife nags me a bit about why I work so hard on my contribution (terrain) when I have so many other projects. That picture is exactly why.

Chris, your efforts have become an invaluable part of the project every year. We really appreciate your annual contributions.

You're more than welcome! If only there had been something like this when I was a kid. All I got were snotty comments from my family, with my father wondering out loud when I planned on growing up. (He bought me a BB gun instead of Marx's Eastern Front playset to help me become a real man. Oh goody.)

Very Nice.

My first exposure to miniatures BATTLES was at a convention in Michigan. Someone was hosting a HUGE 14 player Napoleonic game with Empire II, I believe. The hook was firmly set, despite the adults complaining about this @$#@#$ kids getting slots in a game that they wanted to play.

That is awesome. I need to start doing stuff like that, too. When I was a kid, there was a guy who took boxes of Airfix figures around to the library and teach us to paint them and run rudimentary wargames-- if anyone got me interested in the wargaming hobby, it was that nameless guy. This is sort of like that idea in the modern age.

Walt--Keep me in mind. Between us (maybe with some help!) we should be able to come up with something nifty.

I have to admit that this is the first I've heard about this program, and am wonderfully amazed. It occurs to me that there are many gamers out there (like myself)who would gladly contribute to your efforts, either with painted lead, unpainted lead, terrain or dollars.
Shout out your next foray and give us details on where we can send stuff.
Chris J, like you my dad wondered when I would stop playing with toy soldiers.

Cheers,
George M.
