Finally finished doing the Stormcast Eternals from the starter set this weekend. I will be the first to say I am not the world's best painter (in fact, I am downright lazy when it comes to painting!), but I don't think the results are too bad…

If you are interested in seeing the rest, plus a little info on how they were done, I have a page for you;

Very nice!

The silver armor looks quite good.

Those came out really awesome! Fantastic paint job.

I have to say that over the past few weeks, the more I look at the new minis the more I like them. I am not seeing in them the prevailing criticism out there that they look like "fantasy space marines". I think they have a unique look that is all their own.

If you really put them side by side with 40k space marines, they truly don't look the same.

I would say if anything, the Stormcast Eternals remind me more of gladiators or biblical warriors, which I think is fantastic.

I have plans to paint mine in more earthy, campaign colors of grays and browns to reflect that while they might be spiritual/celestial beings of a sort, they might also be subject to the weather and wear of whatever mortal realm they happen to be in.

Sort of like Gandalf and Sauruman in the Lord of the Rings – they are spiritual beings, yes – but while inhabiting Middle Earth their clothing does age and begin to wear just as mortal's clothing does.

I love that concept.

Baranovich: I do not disagree. On the same blog I did a post about Age of Sigmar and looked at (among other things) the difference between 40k.

I said that 40k was all about the GrimDark. Age of Sigmar, on the other hand, is more about hope. It is shinier.

Just my opinion :)

I kinda like the Stormcast Eternals. Their ornate armor reminds me of High Elf Dragon Princes and even Asian fantasy armor:

Ahhhh, 'Curse of the Golden Flower', one of my favorite movies!

And this is one of the aspects of the fluff of AoS that really excites me: The Good (with a capital G) Guys are on the offensive!
