Good one Armand, I enjoyed that. I've occasionally wondered what the people talking to Hitler thought when he came up with some of those ideas. "We're going to build a ramming tank". "What? Oh. Yes. Great idea boss". |

I've occasionally wondered what the people talking to Hitler thought when he came up with some of those ideas. "Where the unholy did he find that case of absynthe, and why didn't he share it with the rest of us?!? |

I believe it was Guderian who wrote that he would get worked up to confront Hitler about something but would come away from an interview puzzled that Hitler talked him out of it and even brought him around to his viewpoint. He wrote that he really could not relate what was said and he was very frustrated at how Hitler would thwart his purpose to bring military reality into focus at highest command levels. One of Hitler's strong points was an amazing memory for facts and figures which he would marshal to overwhelm another's point of view. I am reminded of a poster I used to have where Snoopy says, "If you can't dazzle them with brilliance baffle them with ." |

I've read that one as well. Of course we don't really know just how dead set Guderian was on his points before walking in. He might have exaggerated somewhat later for whatever reason. Many people from the period described how charismatic Hitler was. We look at him and think of that shaking hulk squeezing the ear of a 13 year old outside the bunker in 45. He must have had something. |
