Nice!

Henry Martini19 Jul 2015 10:03 p.m. PST

But why are they in open order?

Oh Bugger20 Jul 2015 2:07 a.m. PST

four to a base so not open order.

How do these compare to Black Hats range? Are they compatible do you think? The same for Irregular – are they compatible do you think?

Oh Bugger20 Jul 2015 11:39 a.m. PST

Certainly very compatible with Irregular. Blackhat is a maybe. I'll post a comparison shot or so and you can decide for yourself.

I like the Blackhat cavalry more than the infantry but the range varies some are very nice indeed.

A comparison shot here with Blackhat British Rifles.

One with the aforesaid and with Irregular's Mutiny Sikhs.

Awesome, thank you very much for taking the time to do that. Most helpful indeed and as always your figures look great!

Oh Bugger20 Jul 2015 3:05 p.m. PST

No bother Rhysius happy to do it and glad you like 'em.

It's the intervals between men that define the order, not the number of figures per base, but… let's call it loose files, then; very AWI… not so Sikh Wars.

Oh Bugger22 Jul 2015 2:26 a.m. PST

Actually its the width of the figure side on that creates that optical impression. If you look at the width of British rifles above on the same size base you will see what I mean.

Of course you could just tell yourself the Sikh guns have just found their range and they have indeed opened up.

Thank you for your postings of these.
I have a LOT of QRF and some Black Hat figures.
I have also used these Sepoy figs as Khalsa Ghurkhas.

I found the QRF figures to be closer to 17mm/18mm and bulkier than Minifigs Crimean figs.
The Black Hat figs are stocky in comparison to the QRF figs. The Akali and Khalsa professional irregular forces look like very sturdy fellows, yet the Sikh soldiers I met in the Punjab were a lot thinner. My only quibble.
The Black Hat Sikh artillerymen mix fairly well with the QRF fellows.

I find the QRF cavalry to be closer to 15mm than the Black Hat cavalry.
The Black Hat Sikh siege guns are very big. Nice and imposing.
Good to know about the Irregular stuff. I have been looking at it and wondering, a bit shy maybe. I have been wanting more Sikh senior command and Sepoy command in Bell Shakos.

Oh Bugger23 Jul 2015 3:15 a.m. PST

Yeah the Irregular stuff is fine and a great mix with QRF, you wont go wrong getting command Sikhs and Bell Shakos from them.

The BlackHat range varies some figures fit nicely enough with QRF/Minifigs/Irregular others not so much.

I agree they are generaly stockier some more than others but the real issue for me was the size of the heads on some packs they look massive to me. Other packs though are fine and surely no one could beat the Blackhat Sikh guns they are fantastic.

Within the QRF (sculpted by Steve Shaw) Sikh Wars range I would say they are absolutley compatibable with Minifigs the older Moghul range though is a bit bulkier.

It would be nice to see a pic of your Sikh Ghurkas if you happen to have one.

deflatermouse25 Jul 2015 5:14 a.m. PST

I would try to post one. I'm not too techno savvy but could try.
They're based on the Osprey Sikh army pic. Not too much difference to the HEIC troops but for the Tricolour shako plume. I was really stumped what to have as their command so for now I've used the regular Sikhs in turban as their command.

Oh Bugger28 Jul 2015 10:34 a.m. PST

That's just what I did and maybe that is who commanded them in reality.
