Hello

There have been many dioramas of the Battle of Waterloo in this the bicentenary year of the famous victory but this one has a special place as it was set up in the Visitors' Centre on the actual battlefield of Waterloo itself.

This was during the Waterloo bicentenary weekend 19 – 21 June 2015 so, while tens of thousands were outside trying to watch the re-enactment through the smoke, thousands were inside watching the real thing on the tabletop – but in 15mm scale.

Please see my report on the Waterloo diorama page of the Wargamorium Blog link

Well the photograph certainly came out big enough. I think I have got the hang of posting photographs now.

Well done all concerned!
It looked absolutely magnificent.
Thanks to Broglie for posting the link and for maintaining such a fine blog.

Thank you Cazador for those kind words.

Huge endeavour. I'd be incredibly curious to play the battle on an accurate terrain like that.

Wonderful!

Congratulations on both mounting such a fine display and convincing those concerned allow wargaming such a prominent role.

Shame it wasn't in 28mm though (joking)

I enjoyed seeing it and visiting. Bravo and well done.

Thanks Janner. I will pass your congratulations on to the organisers. I just supplied Prussian II and IV Corps and some of the French Imperial Guard. They did all the rest. There was talk of a 28mm diorama to be staged inside Hougoumont itself but I do not know if it ever happened.

21eRegt. Many thanks. I do recall your visit and our long chat about our respective blogs. It is nice to hear from you again.I hope you enjoyed the rest of your stay. I did see your blog write up afterwards.

Darn I walked by and missed it! I went through the new underground walkway to the Lion/Panorama.

Sorry to hear that. It was well signposted but the crowds were so massive that you were probably swept by.

Nice, but the one in Celle, Germany is slightly larger (15.000 figures in 28mm)

The German version is wonderful and unusually in 28mm and not 1/72.

If you only look at the French skirmishers in the wheat field or the French artillery line………worth it!

I love the fire discipline of the British/KGL/Hanoverians though. Just about to fire with half their ammo wagons directly in front of them! Not wise.

Superb modelling
