Had a second game of Frostgrave on Friday night. The write up can be found here – link I saved the pictures as .png, which I don't think I can link to here. |

Looks like a fun time. Was it an enjoyable game? |

It was more enjoyable second time around. We had a game the previous night to get a feel for the rule mechanics. We're still learning the spells and this write up shows which ones are current favorites. One thing that started to be annoying was that if a figure carries treasure, their movement is halved. So if you're heading for the table edge, the majority of figures will be reduced to 3 inch movement for the first action and 0.75 inch on their second action (movement for a second action is halved). So far been unfortunate in that no creatures have not been spawned in the two games we've played. Overall, this has the feeling of D&D lite! It would be good to try a dungeon crawl with these rules. |

Great write up! You math on movement is slightly off though. Most figures carry treasure can move 4.5 inches. 3 for the first move, 1.5 for the second. Also worth noting that a figure can move off any board edge except his opponent's starting edge, so he doesn't always have to go all the way back. I've noticed a popular move is to use a movement spell on a henchman, such as leap or even using push against your own guy if it lines up right. If you want some more random encounters, why not just say the first treasure picked up WILL generate a wandering monster? |

Thanks Joe5mc. Quick question about movement then. My Wizard has a movement rate of 6. So for the first action he can move 6 inches and 3 for the second action (move is halved for moving in the second action). Now if he carries a treasure token (move is halved), it's 3 inches for the first action. Then it becomes 1.5 for the second action, is it halved again for moving in the second action or do you only halve the second movement once? We were applying it twice, which is why it took some characters so long to get off the table with treasure. Push or leap was available to our wizards, but we became focused on trying to knock the other out! Still it's early days… |

Joe5mc, could you have a look at this thread – TMP link – as I raised some questions from my first game of Frostgrave and I'm not a member of LAF. |
