So, I need some of these for a project and don't think anyone (currently) makes them?

Would there be any takers for a range of 1980s (and more modern) IDF?

I've been mulling over commissioning a small range, so what would make a viable selection? I'm thinking:

HQ pack: Officer, NCO, Radio, Sniper, Medic (or swap for something else?)
Section 1: Team leader, 3 Galil, LMG (FN MAG?)
Section 1: Team leader, 3 Galil, RPG7
Extras: 2 x AKMs, 2 x M16A1, 1 x Uzi (or another M16?)
Sayerat Matkal: 5 x AK47 etc in Ugandan paratroop attire (which will lead to Ugandan OPFOR for Entebbe and African Union troops for current activities – so there is method in my madness…)

I'm not up to speed with current IDF kit – is the basic uniform very much different now? Would head/weapon swaps with added mitznefet/kneepads/bodyarmour work or would it need to be a redesign due to uniform differences?

Presumably for the modern weapons we're talking Tavors & IMI Negevs, Anything else? M249s? M203s? M16s still?

Does this sound a goer, or is there a fundamental reason that 28mm IDF aren't on the market?

(Now just the small matter of finding a suitable sculptor…)

Dan, Ian Crouch had a great selection of IDF, part of his Mongrel Miniatures range (I think Paul Hicks did them); Crouchie sold them to Ben Checota (Badger Games?) but he doesn't seem to have done anything with them, they are certainly not available at the moment. It might be worth seeing if he wants to sell them; I found an email address for him on the web – bchecota 'at' life.biz

Thanks Bob – I've tried Ben C before with no joy, so whilst I've done so again after your reminder, that's more out of hope than expectation. Also suspect it may be cheaper to start from scratch than to buy him out and ship them over to the UK? lawyers' fees > sculptor's fees…

Stan, thanks for the heads up on those.
