"Keeping up with the idea that the ‘Spider-Man' reboot is angling to be more of a comedy than a drama, Marvel and Sony are currently in talks with John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein to write the latest addition in the web-slinging franchise. Daley and Goldstein have a lot of comedy on their resumes already, having written the ‘Horrible Bosses' movies, ‘The Incredible Burt Wonderstone,' and ‘Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2,' not to mention their latest offering (which they also directed), the rebooted ‘Vacation' film, which is already garnering great critical buzz. At one point the duo had also been considered to direct the new ‘Spider-Man' offering, but they lost the chair to Jon Watts, himself a man with some comedic roots after his time working with ‘The Onion.'

In the new ‘Spider-Man' film, the titular hero will be played by Tom Holland (who himself looks like he's about 13), with Peter Parker still in high-school and living at home with his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei). The humor will come from such a young character tackling the world of being a super-hero, not to mention the shenanigans that will ensue in school where he will struggle to keep his secret identity and fit in with his peers…"

Well Sony has to make another Spider-Man movie or lose the license and Marvel could shop the Spider-Man franchise around to other movie companies. If it's done right, it could be a success.

I definitely welcome the extra humor. The Spiderman I grew up reading can hold his own against Deadpool in the wisecracking department.
