I was looking at the Navcon Facebook page and noticed a picture from the 2014 convention of a AoS fleet action. I noted that numerous ships appeared to have a mast or masts leaning up against its other masts, perhaps as a representation of loss. Can anyone elaborate on this? During that game were masts "pulled" from the hull when (partially) destroyed? What game system and models were used? (of course this would mean some lack of detailing such as no ratlines or other rope supports).
I've always wanted to have a game where I could replace partially damaged masts with those whose t'gallant section is missing or fully remove the mast if it went over the side so that a player can see at a glance the state of his opponent's ship rather than having to ask or make their own notes.

thanks for any info provided

I don't remember that game being at the 2014 convention. The masts on the models in the picture appear to just be bent from being handled.

I do it like this:

Jeff,
I would hope that those bent masts weren't caused just by being mishandled at the convention. That would be a shame.

I'd imagine that I'd need multiple masts and make them battle damaged for use. Just plug them into the hull as necessary.

I have really never seen anyone ever game that way so was looking for more info from anyone that did. Info looking for: Was it too tedious or time consuming to do so during the game? Did it really help the players?

I've been looking on line for "replacement masts" for the sails of glory but can't seem to find any. I was thinking of doing this with those models using a different ruleset.
Anyone know if anyone sells them? How difficult would it be to cast them using resin?

thanks

@BuckeyeBob

I have 3 masts per ship and only remove them when completely destroyed.

I also have two or three sets of jury rigged masts as not every ship will need them in a game.

Removing them in a game is not tedious at all. I have been using this method for more than 40 years. Everyone who plays seems to accept them without question.
