Years ago, I converted my own troglodyte partisan troop for Panzerfauste to pit against the Dwarves in underground action. I had planned on making more, and giving them a better variety of weapons, to complement the full Dwarf section I had.
Since the reboot was announced earlier this year (You can visit https://www.facebook.com/HystericalGames for more info), the trogs have had a more detailed makeover from the faded sketch in the rulebook. I wanted the new ones to have this look, instead of being undead reptilian creatures or little runts.
Plus, I'd been wanting to get back to sculpting after a month-long break. So two nights ago I decided to make more troglodyte partisans, this time using GW Uruk Hai. Less than 24 hours later, and I'm happy with the progress. All that mess? The other conversion project that I've been working on, using Privateer Press plastic. Over a month ago, I got horrible blisters trying to drill and cut my way through it. I did a bit better yesterday with gloves on.
A day later, with things progressing rapidly. The weapons are all Bolt Action Miniatures, so Warlord now I guess.
And the final sculpts. They are a bit rough, but that fits in with the original Panzerfauste range. They might also be far bigger than trogs are suppose to be (I believe they are somewhere in between Gnomes and Dwarves), but that's all due to the original batch. So why radically alter that bit? The tiny ones might as well be teens for this portrayal.
The original four were undead trogs from Wizards of The Coast's Chainmail game (the flashy one where all the minis came in boxes, which then got canned and replaced by the plastic D&D random minis line), with two goblins of some sort from the same range joining them a few years later.
