I have always liked a spray sealer that has a *bit* of gloss to it. I'm not painting for "realism", and just don't like a matte coating on my minis, though I see that many here do.

I quit using Armory some years back, because they started making it too flat. Or maybe it was just that can? I don't know.

Since then, I have been using Krylon Crystal Clear sealer. But my current can, shaken well, and used in appropriate atmospheric conditions, has left a faint glittery, silvery sheen on the minis.

Few things are less pleasing than working hard on painting minis, to have your finishing touch muck them up. So, can anyone give me any advice on what is up with my sealer, and/or suggest another brand? My "almost" finished miniatures are starting to pile up.

I've successfully used Testers Satin and Gloss coats before.

They can also be humidity sensitive but a little pre-warming of the can and figures under a desk lamp can go a great way to mitigate this problem.

The Vallejo sealer called "matte" is very nice. Not dead flat, it has just a bit of sheen to it.

Aquanet super hold hair spray. Spay on a heavy coat and then take a hair drier, set on high, to give it a semi gloss look.

If you just do a normal coat and let it dry over night, then you get close to a matte finish. For only a few dollars it is worth a test on a figure. You can experiment with how much to put on before you heat it or not.

35 years now and no figure has lost their seal.

Some thing to think about, Vallejo's brush on sealers. You can mix your own, myself I use their matte and satin together varying the amount of satin used. Results are fantastic!
