Nice figures, but 1859 again. When will someone do 1848 in 28mm?

Tango0116 Jul 2015 10:53 a.m. PST

Happy you like them boys!. (smile)

Really nice figures! Thanks Armand!
If they are even only slightly compatible with the gems from Gringo 40s, that opens up another world!

Just talked to them free shipping to the states on orders
Over 200 USA dollars. Very tempted figured shipping costs from
Italy would rule it out but fee shipping well now have to
Find second job. Seriously though may pick up some figures
to sample in the flesh noticed their listed as 28mm and imagine
Their a tad bigger than foundry or battle honors. But they look nice!!

ITALWARS16 Jul 2015 2:01 p.m. PST

Hi
yes very tempting…they look big but the design call for good characterisation and effective painting…i imagine that above all Neapolitans and Pontifical soldiers should have a distinctive look..i've just send him a mail asking for sample..as i live in Italy it should be easy to receive it …then i'll write here down my impression on size ecc..

ITALWARS16 Jul 2015 2:03 p.m. PST

ah i forget to thanks our friend Tango for his succesful hunting ..which was quicker than everyone also in my country
grazie mille amico :-)

I've got masses of 28mm 19th Cent French, Prussians and Austrians.
I don't need these do I chaps…

Oregon01 Supporting Member of TMP17 Jul 2015 6:33 p.m. PST

Mashrewba could you define masses for me then I'll let you know
If you need more?? (Hint answer probably is yes). Try to give myself
30 days before I make decision. Unfortunately, the airmail cost to view a few samples quite high next best option do the 200 hundred dollar order with free shipping. Very curious as to what ITALWARS has to say first

mashrewba18 Jul 2015 2:27 a.m. PST

Indeed , the temptation to place a great big order at once is overwhelming so your sage advice is timely. After all yeterday it was going to be a big order for 15mm Russo Polish War figures (probably still will be but a cooling off period is a good idea).
I'm very interested in Italwars review and I have also asked for a sample. I did once buy an awful lot of French Revolutionary figures which were absolutely beautiful BUT the muskets were so thin and flimsy that I still can't bring myself to put the effort into painting them.
However I have been waiting for a cracking range of Garibaldini and Pontifical Zouaves for my Republican French and this looks like it.
As well as 1859 a lot of these will be good for the Italian front in 1866 and if anyone is interested in this, this book is an absolute must:

Odd price here on Amazon at the moment but keep looking as I got mine very cheaply and it's out there in PDF format although I haven't really investigated this.

mashrewba18 Jul 2015 3:53 a.m. PST

Got an Email this morning from Cibo's (also the name of my local Italian bar!!!)-sample on it's way in return for the shipping. Offered free shipping for a 100 euro order to the UK.
Gotta love the EU!!!

PS -have you noticed the cavalry are a very good price!!!

ITALWARS18 Jul 2015 5:31 a.m. PST

still no reply from this manufacture…stay tuned i'll let you know …from picts there is a first impression that their minis are more on Campaign dress..which is good ..If you think about my favourite army, the Pontifical one, they fought also far from Rome..in anti-bandit role vs marauding bands of so called "red shirts" and also VS true outlaws (which in any case i prefer compared to red shirts) which were the so called Briganti of the Lazio zone..in some picts taken "in the country" they sported very casual appearance….same for the Neapolitans..so those Cibo's minis , if i'll ever receive a sample to look at them properly, should be interesting to build up the core of the forces with the smart guards or command units groups enhanced maybe with the already existing Foundry or Mirliton minis..

Anything yet? -I haven't got my samples yet but when I do I'll post a comparison pic.

Sample has just arrived and the figures are very nice indeed. Here are some comparison shots against Foundry, Battle Honors and Northstar 1866 figs.
The Pontificial Zoauve is particularly good.

Mashrewba,

Thanks for the comparison! Very helpful!

They look better than on the website!

mashrewba01 Aug 2015 9:58 a.m. PST

Looks as if there is an Italo Turkish War range in the pipe line as well.

Re 1848

cplcampisi14 Mar 2016 8:01 p.m. PST

I'm in the US, and I'm also interested if there was any update on this. I'm definitely interested in the Italo-Turca War line, but also Risorgimento too.

Tricorne197103 Aug 2016 12:24 p.m. PST

Don't forget the excellent 28mm range of Risorgimento and Austrian (1859-66) figures from Mirliton in Italy. Excellent Service

Durando04 Aug 2016 1:08 p.m. PST

These are nice figs but at the very small end of the 28mm scale I understand, they were if my memory is correct were originally marketed as 25/28mm

Tricorne197110 Aug 2016 12:02 p.m. PST

No. The Mirliton Figures are not small. They are 28mm large Hinchliffe style. The new FP range of figures are slightly larger.
They are very compatable with Battle Honors

cplcampisi11 Aug 2016 11:18 p.m. PST

Mirliton miniatures are tall, but somewhat thin compared to most other miniatures -- I suspect that's why a lot of people think they're short, because they do look "smaller."

Tricorne197112 Aug 2016 2:09 p.m. PST

Their latest French and 1860 figures are a bit "heftier". They and the earlier figures are a little taller and the same proportions as Battle Honors.

I stopped by their shop a couple years ago while on my way to Milan. The owner is a great guy. I've shopped with him (by Mail) for years. He responds to written English quite well, but nor spoken
