Admittedly I teach Design and Technology and have access to a table saw, band saw and disc sanders etc but I still thought I'd share.
The figs are 28mm Turcos and 15mm FPW on the 'Waterloo' set up.
There is going to be some serious urbanisation going on.
The wood is reclaimed from skips and my attic refurb.

Those will look great when they're painted up!

So simple it's brilliant.

I feel silly for not having already done the same thing. Making the core box for a building is pretty fiddly and time consuming, and cutting down from a block of wood would speed that up and allow going right to detailing.

Of course when you need to put troops *inside* the building, a different method is necessary, but there are workarounds, or you could have a smaller number of compatible hollow buildings with liftoff roofs.

Love your building shapes. I wish I had the skill to convert blocks of wood to such realistic model building shapes.

Many years ago Peter Gilder was kind enough to show me how he made his buildings, and they were very similar in design.

I developed a little painting skill over the years, but have never been any good at all making model buildings.

I am very impressed, and very envious

I am luckv with the equipment I can use -a table saw set at 45 degrees will cut roof shapes in a long bit of wood in seconds then you chop it up like a loaf of bread!!
The next stage is building more complex shapes and adding features.

I look forward to seeing them develop

Model railroader have plastic sheets textured for shingles, brick, clapboard etc. A few sheets of those cut up and glued to the blocks and all you'd need are doors and windows.

I might do the roofs but not the walls. Im going to make a metal stamp for recessing windows and doors -this will help with painting.
