As I said earlier, I have a definitely 1st World problem in trying to find a light dragoon unit for 9 Firing Line dismounted dragoons.
The first unit of 10 is definitely going to be the 3rd LD. Awesome uniform.

I have decided that the other unit will be a Legion. I already have Lee's.
To match my dismounted figures, I need some mounted with jockey cap, turban and horsehair crest.
Did Pulaski or Armand have such a cap?

Yes.

There is evidence suggesting that Armand's Legion, or at least the mounted part, was supposed to wear Tarleton type caps. Whether they did so beyond senior officers is another question.

Correspondence prior to Camden suggests that a number of mounted members of Armand's Legion were former members of the mounted contingent of Pulaski's Legion. As to the foot contingent, Armand was trying to scrounge up additional light infantry. From this I would guess that at Camden the horse would have been a mixture of troopers in the Armand Legion uniform and the Pulaski Legion uniform, while the foot would have been a mixture of Armand's Legion uniforms, other uniforms and civilian clothes. IIRC the total unit strength at Camden was 60 horse and 60 foot.

Here is a portrait of Armand showing the legion uniform (well the top part of anyway). The 'Tarleton' form of the cap is evident.

A better view is to be had from this engraving obviously based on the above portrait
