I'm not a GW player, but I do purchase the occasional GW model. While looking at the new Warhammer fantasy range I saw that the new Warhammer Fantasy rules & Codexes (i.e. army lists) are available as free downloads. It seemed wise to pass that long in case anyone is interested in the free rules: link |

Just downloaded every item on the page. This is either genius on GWs part or the beginning of the end for Warhammer fantasy. That being said my interested is piqued. |

GW doesn't give *anything* away for free unless it's already been tagged as "sleeping with the fishes"… |

Warhammer Fantasy as you knew it is already gone. The new game is a new setting, new miniatures and new rules. The army lists being given away are there to make it seem like Warhammer Fantasy is still around – at least for a while. |

Anything new coming out will not be free. Anything new coming out will more than likely put the old stuff to shame. Pay to win. |

To benefit from the free rules, you might feel tempted to buy the new 40mm AoS figures, which will cost you dearly. GW knows exactly what they are doing. |

Think of the free rules like the Ravening Hordes booklet they gave away at the start of 6th edition. |

Looks like you get what you pay for from a rules standpoint, anyway… |

Absolutely. Lots of better rules out there, even for free. |
