"An online campaign group made the stark warning amid concerns Armed Forces are facing even more cuts with another Defence Review scheduled for later this year.

Save The Royal Navy believes the service will be hard pushed to man even one of the massive ships because of the depleted number of sailors.

The organisation also expressed concerns the record low staffing levels will lead to "dangerously small crews" while uncertainty over the number of aircrafts on board the carriers and lack of escort vessels could leave them vulnerable to an attack…"

Deleted by Moderator Pinch of salt methinks (especially as they show a Nimitz class in the article)…

No sailors for the new aircraft carriers.

And no aircraft either.

Maybe it's all a clever decoy and the boat is just made from cardboard…..

The USN may have to merge with the Coast Guard at this rate …

Ah, 20thmaine! You've found us out!

Operation Fortitude ( link ) worked so well in WW2 we decided to continue it as it was SO much cheaper than having actual armed forces.

It's a little known fact that the Falklands Task Force was made up entirely of pedaloes requisitioned from Brighton seafront.

No need, it does not have aircrafts either.

Finally, an integrated defence strategy.

No aircraft carrier, no carrier capable aircraft, and no sailors. That at least is a fully-integrated plan that all fits together perfectly.

Such a plan is worth every penny of the billions of pounds spent in getting there.

They could probably outsource the crew with Chinese or Indian contractors.

…don't forget we can probably get Ugandan Guards like in Iraq

I wonder if we could get a load of Polish plumbers to do the job?

Jcfrog15 Jul 2015 1:20 p.m. PST

You need a naval foreign legion.

I wonder if we could get a load of Polish plumbers to do the job?

And have the job done on time and in budget? Does that sound like a proper way to do defense procurement to you?

I love it when a plan comes together……

The vessels will make very nice, albeit rather expensive, artificial reefs.

You need a naval foreign legion.

Europe used to have one, it was called the US Navy.
