As always, we try to accommodate people's requests to be assigned a table that is next to one assigned to a friend, or is near an exit because of a medical condition, etc. Unfortunately, the table registration form does not include a means by which this can be conveyed to us. So, if you have such a request, please let me know ASAP by emailing me directly: [ bumbydad@gmail.com ]. I realize this message will not get to everyone in time, so bear with us when we check you in and we will do our best for all concerned. See you there. Chris Johnson |

I forget, are they 6 foot or 8 foot tables? |

What table registration form? I paid money for a table when I pre-registered. Is there something else I have to do other than show up and grab a table? Do I have to show up 15 minutes before the opening bell or 1 hr or 2 hrs? Do I have to check in with someone before I grab my paid for table? I don't think I need to email directly as I don't have a need for any special accommodations. But the last few flea markets at the HMGS cons make me wonder what is going on. It ain't rocket science. |

6 ft table mostly He is talking about the online form which you filled out to get a table which has no place for special requests. Tables are assigned at check in not first come first served. You will want to be at the flea mkt area if you have a table half hour to hour before it opens to get table number and get your stuff unloaded and set up. Tough to set up after the gate is open and the crowd flows in. |

Oh that's sounds easy enough. . . though I showed up 1/2 hour early at Cold Wars 2015 (as I did for many previous flea markets) and they had already let the crowd in and given away all the tables. They fit me into the next flea market window so no major gripe. But I think I'll show up an hour early this time since the folks running the flea market are loose on the procedures. |

Mr. Armstrong: You're right, this is not rocket science, but it can get hairy if the details are not attended to. I know this is kind of pompous, but things are done differently at the Historicon FM, (Ask around.) We will not be "loose on procedures". We wrote them. (1) No, we will NOT assign tables on a first-come, first-served basis; that is why you did not get the table you should have at CW. Assuming I get the necessary information from the powers-that-be in time, I will assign each table to each person for each session before the first one opens up. Obviously the people who reserve at the Con itself will be assigned a table when they come in. (2) We generally let people in earlier than 30 minutes prior to the start of the session, inasmuch as a lot of people have too much to be able to get it in the door, to the table, and all set up within that short a time. 45-60 minutes is more like it. We try to make life easier for the sellers--there is enough grief in the world as it is. (3) Nothing is perfect, of course; we can be the victims of chance, misunderstandings, and human error like everyone else. We will take whatever steps are necessary to make it right. For example, normally a seller has 30 minutes to set up before the table can be rented to someone else. Last year, however, an accident on I-95 totally jammed traffic up, so some sellers arrived late. We extended the grace period beyond 30 minutes. (4) In all the years I have done this, I have NEVER turned away someone who rented a table (or tried to, but a glitch left his name off the list)., even if it means assigning part of the registration table to him (which has happened). If you have a problem, don't go ballistic--come see us and we will take care of it. See you all there. Chris Johnson |

Chris, Sounds good. I'll do my part and get there early, check in and all should go well. |
