Stumbled on this page the other day that has a whole bunch of useful links to period information and regulations etc.

Worth a look if you are interested in the detail of how things should have been done.

I know Silas. He's good people, and his research and circle of friends is pretty nice. If it's on his page, it's been vetted pretty well.

Also online are the US Hospital Steward's manual, as well as Chisolm's manual for the Confederate Medical Department. Both have some interesting insights not only to treatments, and field use, but also for how things were organized and who had what, etc.

There's also a South Carolina circular that lists what litter bearers are to carry on their persons when going into the field. neat stuff.
