I make due with the Studio Bergstrom Fleetscale Fighters and the 1" fighters for games at different scale/size but… Since I play 5150 Fighter Command 5150 Carrier Command – PSB: player essentially is promoted to command a "training carrier" (think slightly better than the USS Langley) that gets bypassed by a Hishen invasion and fights behind "enemy lines," occasionally with other CapShips support, until the "cavalry arrives" in relief. And 5150 Star Navy (commanding a Fleet level actions) I was wondering: 1) What could I use for a "Converted to Carrier" ship for the fleet scale fighters for 5150 Carrier Command… 2) I was thinking I might be able to use the two sizes of Bergstrom Studio "Renegade Alliance" and "Scythe Empire" with (totally unrelated I am sure) the current Star Wars ships I see on Ebay for three scale of similar ships – feedback on that idea? 3)and, on an unrelated note, if there is/was any miniature maker of space/starships that ever produced the same ship designs in three scales/sizes? |

I am not sure how large a ship you want. The 1/1000 scale kits from Yamato 2199 are available from Hobby Link Japan link Here is an example of one but several others will work. Their size would be close enough to Bergstroms fleet scale fighters to match up well.
I believe that several of these kits are done in two sizes and that a third size could be had by watching ebay for some of the cosmo models. Search ebay for Star Blazers. |

So, you're looking for something to use as an In-Scale ship for your 1" fighters. Is that right? Preferably something that can be found in three different scales, if I understand correctly. Do they have to be Star Wars, or will generic ships work? |

1) Brigade Models UK's SAC carriers have sort of a tacked-on feel to me: link 2) I use SB's fleet and fighter scale ships for two scales of gaming, but I can't comment on the third (the SW Armada ones I presume?). 3) I think Shapeways is where you might find three scales, or at least it'd be possible to ask for a third scale. I've seen some ships in three or more scales, but usually a couple of scales aren't that different, e.g. fighters in fleet scale, 1/350, 1/240 etc. If you are looking for a name brand ship, you could mix modellers to get some across scales, at least until the shop gets a C&D letter. |

Just thought. If you want carriers that are fleet scale models, which means the fighters are all way to large in relation to the carriers, there are the Star Blazer miniatures starblazersonline.com or the Babylon 5 fleet action miniatures link The Babylon 5 miniatures can also be found in a larger size on this site. |

Lots of scales of the Star Trek, Star Wars, and Battlestar Galactica vessels. |

I'm using Star Blazer's from HLJ. They are big, cheap and easy to build. Here's mine: Carrier
Cruisers
The fighters you see are plastic from EM4 and they are about 1" long…and cheap. BTW, if you don't know my blog, there you can view around 20 BATREPS of Fighter Command and Carrier Command if you are interested: link |

For those of you in the States who want those fighters, they're the Core Ships for Silent Death, and you can save on the postage from the UK by ordering them from us directly through our web store: link
Direct link to the ship sprue in the web store:
link And I'll second Mike's recommendation for the 1st generation Space Battleship Yamato kits for a wonderfully cheap source of large ship models for space combat gaming. Further, the Andromeda is still in production as of this writing if you want a really hefty beast for just over $10 USD at the current exchange rate: hlj.com/product/BAN31264/Sci One of these days I'm gonna get me a pair of those EDF carriers…

Only "one of these days"? You ain't ordered one or more of everything in the Yamato section of Bandai's catalog yet?!? Are you kiddin'/! I've had this set on backorder since last year because I was so generous as to alert all you lot as to the existence of these kits:
Every month HLJ has posted restock that same month, only to move the restock to the next month once the previous month ended… serves me right for posting all over the interwebs about these awesome kits for an awesome price… LOL!!! Guess it gives me an incentive to keep building out the ones I've already got in hand…

Oh, and speaking of HobbyLink Japan and Yamato 2199, here's the latest Mecha Colle mini kit on the horizon: link
It's the Dimension Dive Ship UX-01 of all things, but I am still holding out for a Mecha Colle Garmillas fighter kit to do battle with my Cosmo Zeros and Hayabusas… Leland R. Erickson Metal Express metal-express.net |

The above suggestions from several people was wonderful. I ordered a few inexpensive kits just for "field testing" so they should arrive soon. 1) Bandai Space Battleship Yamato, Star Blazers #8 Nasuka Ship 2) Bandai Space Battleship Yamato, Star Blazers #7 Baruze Ship But I was thinking that in 5150CC the "carrier" you command was converted transport and wondering what that would look like. From en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_o … ft_carrier : Something the starship equivalent of ".. Escort carriers and merchant aircraft carriers[edit] To protect Atlantic convoys, the British developed what they called Merchant Aircraft Carriers, which were merchant ships equipped with a flat deck for six aircraft. These operated with civilian crews, under merchant colors, and carried their normal cargo besides providing air support for the convoy. As there was no lift or hangar, aircraft maintenance was limited and the aircraft spent the entire trip sitting on the deck. Something like below. These served as a stop-gap measure until dedicated escort carriers (CVE) could be built in the U.S. About a third of the size of a fleet carrier, they carried between 20 and 30 aircraft, mostly for anti-submarine duties. Over 100 were built or converted from merchantmen. Escort carriers were built in the US from two basic hull designs: one from a merchant ship, and the other from a slightly larger, slightly faster tanker. Besides defending convoys, these were used to transport aircraft across the ocean. Nevertheless, some participated in the battles to liberate the Philippines, notably the Battle off Samar in which six escort carriers and their escorting destroyers aggressively attacked five Japanese battleships and bluffed them into retreating…" Certainly nothing stylistically beyond a "light" carrier design. "… Light aircraft carriers[edit] USS Saratoga c. 1935 Prior to the beginning of the war, President Franklin D. Roosevelt noticed that no new aircraft carriers were expected to enter the fleet before 1944, and proposed the conversion of several Cleveland-class cruiser hulls that had already been laid down. They were intended to serve as additional fast carriers, as escort carriers did not have the requisite speed to keep up with the fleet carriers and their escorts. The actual U.S. Navy classification was small aircraft carrier (CVL), not light. Prior to July 1943, they were just classified as aircraft carriers (CV).[19] The Royal Navy made a similar design which served both Britain and the Commonwealth countries after World War II. One of these carriers, HMS Hermes (1959), as of 2013 was still in use as India's INS Viraat…" |
