Many gamers get angry about changes to games they love, but YouTuber Death, Holy Death has taken that rage to an extreme in protest of the cancellation of Warhammer Fantasy Battle and its subsequent replacement with the rebooted game Warhammer Age of Sigmar. See, Age of Sigmar has significantly different rules from its predecessor – some of which are admittedly a bit silly. This man is, perhaps understandably, furious about the changes. To that end he has burned his Warhammer army to a raucous death metal track, a collection that, eyeballing it, was likely worth upwards of $900 USD at retail price. Not counting the hours spent assembling and painting those miniatures which were assembled and painted…

That army was half-painted, at best, which (in its own way) is the most hilarious part of the video. Fed up grumpy gamer who can't be bothered to paint his toy soldiers decides to torch them in a fit of adolescent rage. LOL. I'll be over here playing Song of Blades & Heroes.

This is why I keep saying we need another Great Depression and War. We need to get upset about SERIOUS things again.

Dynaman878910 Jul 2015 6:27 a.m. PST

The word "moron" comes to mind.

From what I have seen from the multitude of shops I have been in, unpainted, primed and/or partially painted units are the norm for this game. Perhaps the figs are regarded more as simply "playing pieces." Regardless, he burned what would be considered a table ready army. It's his stuff, he can do what he wants with it. Personally, I would have just continued to play with the rules I liked. Failing that, I would have sold them all.

Mithmee10 Jul 2015 6:45 a.m. PST

Dark Elves so no loss.

Col Durnford10 Jul 2015 6:46 a.m. PST

I watched most of the burning. Time for a new poll Stoned or Stupid?

KenofYork10 Jul 2015 7:00 a.m. PST

I give the guy props. He did make a point. Personally I would have just played Oldhammer.

Baranovich10 Jul 2015 7:02 a.m. PST

I must admit I'm really enjoying this one….complain about GW's prices and gaming rules and then burn the very thing that you complained you paid too much money for and then lose all the money invested in it.

Now THAT's financial wisdom for sure(insert heavy sarcasm here).

KeithRK10 Jul 2015 7:16 a.m. PST

I didn't realize that once a new version of a game comes out you are no longer allowed to play any of the old versions.

Baranovich10 Jul 2015 7:21 a.m. PST

@KeithRK,

Oh yes, once a edition comes out, GW will come to your door with henchmen and large hammers if you attempt to play the older version in the privacy of your own home, lol.

John the OFM10 Jul 2015 7:39 a.m. PST

I never got the memo!

Baranovich10 Jul 2015 7:39 a.m. PST

Waaaaaaaah, the new 2015 Honda Civic has navigation control, my 2010 Civic doesn't have it – time to drive it off a cliff!

138SquadronRAF10 Jul 2015 7:43 a.m. PST

The problem that comes from tournament driven games.

Kudos for the gesture. I wonder how many WRG/DBM ancients players felt like doing that once their armies were nurfed…..

Zargon10 Jul 2015 7:54 a.m. PST

LOL luv it, wish I was there would have brought marshmallows, he could have done a final by poring gasoline over himself and 'whooshed' out, THAT would have rung the bells, silly ass…
PatrickWR your doing the right thing (playing SoB&H) I'm looking forward Dragon Rampart myself:D and thinking of Hostile Realms as well (believe it has nice solo playability)
Cheers love the heat this version of GWs prattability, maybe Fantasy can get up and going again without the handicap of GWs latest expensive manure.
Just an up on my armies Empire oldish school and Beastmen ditto medium sized with no plans to expand (although I could push myself to doing small contingents of Chaos and Kislev later on when DR comes out in December.

138, that was a common reason for Flea Markets

meledward2310 Jul 2015 8:03 a.m. PST

I don't know about the GW plastics, but when most plastics burn you don't want to be anywhere near the smoke.

That's all I could think about when watching the video.

Regarding the mostly unpainted army. I agree that is a travesty. But who knows maybe he just started it?

My third armywas a Chaos (40k) army. I was almost finished painting it when the next codex came out invalidating a lot of what I had painted. Yes, I felt like burning it, but then I did have a lot of hours into. The was pretty much the end of me and GW. I still try to play WMF/WMA on occasion. Thats still one of my Fav's.

jpattern210 Jul 2015 8:20 a.m. PST

What a doofus the guy in the video is.

138SquadronRAF10 Jul 2015 8:21 a.m. PST

Having listened to the video, is his criticism of the new version of the rules justified?

The Beast Rampant10 Jul 2015 8:42 a.m. PST

was likely worth upwards of $900 USD

$900 USD worth of GW minis? Wow, I'll bet the flames could be seen for yards and yards.

GypsyComet10 Jul 2015 9:15 a.m. PST

By current GW metrics, $900 USD is just getting started.

f u u f n f10 Jul 2015 9:18 a.m. PST

My thought was where was the fire warden. Burning plastic is usually a hefty fine.

JezEger10 Jul 2015 9:46 a.m. PST

'I didn't realize that once a new version of a game comes out you are no longer allowed to play any of the old versions.'
Exactly! I never heard people hating WRG because they brought out DBA which made their big collections pretty useless. If people wanted to play with large armies, they just played 6th. Some folk however, are just dim, or angry, or both.

Wonkothesane10 Jul 2015 9:59 a.m. PST

I'm old enough to remember similar tantrums from Ancients fanboyz when WRG introduced their 'flaming pigs' rules.

…………….which makes one wonder quite what this guy would've chosen to burn in those circumstances.

Wonkothesane10 Jul 2015 11:47 a.m. PST

I'm mortally offended that Hewlett Packard have produced a new pc which supercedes my current model. Obviously I can no longer use this one, so I'm signing off and going to look for the lighter fluid………………….

nazrat10 Jul 2015 12:01 p.m. PST

What a maroon. Probably hates himself, too.

IronMike10 Jul 2015 12:05 p.m. PST

Wow, this is butthurt taken to it's most ludicrous extreme…

M C MonkeyDew10 Jul 2015 12:45 p.m. PST

A maroon's gotta do what a maroon's gotta do.

One step closer to the Idiocracy.

Der Krieg Geist10 Jul 2015 1:50 p.m. PST

Another stupid behavior filmed by someone desperate to be seen as cool. stupid with a Capitol S……….

If you feel burned by GW you're clearly not paying attention….

skinkmasterreturns10 Jul 2015 6:31 p.m. PST

At least he didnt walk into the closest GW establishment with a rifle.

Black Cavalier10 Jul 2015 9:24 p.m. PST

Like PatrickWR said, less than half painted and it looked like none of them fully based. Typical.

I was thinking that you could make some awesome chaos spawn out of the remnants after everything cools off.

nsolomon9910 Jul 2015 11:54 p.m. PST

Amazing reaction!!

We're loving the new rules. My 11 year old is all re-invigorated, we've fought 4 battles in a week with largish armies by WFB standard. We've got a points system all working and have developed some house-rules to cover a couple of holes in the Quick Start rules (new Big Rule Book arrives next weekend at our local GW Store). We are starting a new Mighty Empires Campaign and he wants to add in a naval dimension with Man of War ships and rules.

Don't understand what all the negative vibes are about. We have a Warhammer renaissance going on down our way.

And as suggested above you can always keep playing 8th Edition if thats what floats your boat.

Amazing!!

darebear11 Jul 2015 6:44 a.m. PST

I don't get it either. The height of childishness. At the very least they could have been sold for $50 USD…buy a pizza or something. Negative people like that are to be avoided in life. They will bring you down emotionally.

the trojan bunny11 Jul 2015 9:46 a.m. PST

As others of said, a very silly and just plain dumb thing to do.

Though at least he has decent taste in black metal. :P

DropKick197111 Jul 2015 10:37 a.m. PST

Don't play WFB so I'm not to savy on it, but at least it was supported. I still have three armies worth of Chronopia Dwarves in my closet. In fact some are getting a second chance to fight cause of other systems. Glad I kept them around.
