Hope someone comes up with a scenario and takes pics of this little known, but hotly contested cavalry raid on a column at march battle on August 17, 1864. U of F is removing the memorial to the battle. About to be forgotten for all time. Typical ACW terrain could be used. Mostly Northern trees and scrub (no palms or palmettos or cypress) |

Lots of oak trees in the area, I went to school there, and for Florida there is a little bit of rolling terrain. |

Played one using Black Powder rules. Actually played it twice, one Federal win, one Confederate win. Oh, wait. I said the "C" word! I'm sure to get labeled as something for that. |

They're removing the memorial? |

lol! Leave it to TMPers to not only know the battle but already played it! :) Well done! Awesome! Yes, rolling hills, but I assumed nobody here would know that. @) Yes, the monument is being removed. Saw the protests of last weekend. Actually had ISIS sign waivers, in Ninja costumes (or ISIS costumes, looked alike), supporting the removal of the monument. Glad the Civil War buffs here remember. :) |

Residents Call For Removal Of Local Confederate StatueA ten-foot tall copper sculpture of a U.S. Civil War Confederate soldier stands outside the Alachua County Administration Building in downtown Gainesville. The anonymous soldier holds a musket. His hat, creased shirt and pants are intended to represent and commemorate the Confederate dead at the Stonewall Camp No. 1493. link |

Even I, as a Dutchman, know of the battle – but that might have to do with the fact that Mrs Gungnir is from nearby Palatka. |

That always cracks me up, Gungnir! You have the only true Southern Wife, a Florida Cracker, no less, in Holland! :) Can you even buy grits there? |

Uh, winter terrain ??? My wife, the UFl grad, was aghast at the news of the statue's removal. I cannot post her comments (neither profane nor obscene) for fear of being DH'd. |
