Nice review. I agreee that WFB will be gone for good very soon. GW spokespeople at the Forge World open day came out and said that the existing models will be phased out as new ranges are brought out. For me this is the worst thing about AoS. There are alot of great models in the current range. Too many to go out and binge buy all the ones I may want in case they disappear. I probably end up buying a few things that are hard to find with other manufacturers. Things like Doomwheels and some of the unique monster kits. After that I am out. Done with GW I'll either sell off some of my armies or keep them and use them for other games. What really irks me is it feels like GW is giving the finger to the current fantasy players. They kept us in the dark for months about what was going on with Fantasy. Then they drop a four page set of rules for what used to be a deep tactical game. Then they fianally come out and say that all of the thousands Ive spent on figures and books over the years doesnt mean anything and that they are going to Squat the current range of figures. If GW doenst want my money I'll gladly give it to a company that does. |

Thanks for the comprehensive review – I guess 'Kings of War' it is then, or modify the horde, cavalry and terrain rules in 8th edition. Started collecting in 5th edition, I have 2 fairly large armies that would rather fight large battles than prance around the clouds on some end-times religious quest. Have enough of that going on in the world right now as it is. I thought Fantasy gaming was supposed to be an escape? Though I did think at one time to use feral orcs mixed with 40K orcs in a game – seems like this is now a possibility of having the two games merge? Not faulting GWs business decisions or disparaging the well produced product – as what the heck do I know – just on that other side of that divide you mentioned. |

I am interested to see the line shape up – I suspect we shall see some WFB elements introduced even if by way of optional rules – like point values |

I too am probably done with WH as GW phases out the old armies. I personally dislike skirmish games to begin with, and nothing in the new AoS game appeals at all. I too am trying to buy up the stuff I want before it is gone, and it's a real challenge. Once they are gone, they are gone. Unless GW releases something spectacular that is also backwards compatable, I'm not supporting the new game. Damon. |

the Stormcast Eternals look like they were designed to be painted in double-quick time, much like Space Marines. Maybe because they are Space Marines. |

MongooseMatt, thanks for the review. Regarding the Space Marine reference, you also wrote: Yes, you can make a direct Stormcast Eternal = Space Marine comparison, but that is not exact and I would expect the gap to widen as they continue to flesh out the Age of Sigmar background. |

And a source of great conversion bits for 40K will now dry up/go through the roof in price on the secondary market. |

Forget the spirit of Sigmar, the Stormcast Eternals look like they were fathered by Thrud. |

Good review, however one slight correction, the 264 page book is a campaign book with background, 24 warscrolls and 8 or 10 battle. The good news is that it will include warscrolls for the Sylvaneth. One other thing, all the old figures will be sold from existing stock and will replaced when new figures become available. Get them while you can, some things are already listed as sold out. |

Time to start picking up WHFB figs for cheap on ebay to play SOBH/Mordheim/Frostgrave. |

I'm sad to see WFB go, even though I never played it (not once). I thought the background and fluff were fantastic. I played the early video games set in the WFB universe and played Talisman, too. Sad. |

Sorry, almost forgot. Thanks for a well written, well thought out review. |

To be quite honest, I never found WFB even a tad interesting and never bought any of their product line. Really I am just not into fantasy. Having said that, I realize that aficionados of WFB will be heavily disappointed by this change of direction. On a more positive note, I absolutely love the new minis and as an aging miniatures player immediately realized how easy on my eyes painting them will be. I have bought the starter set and can't wait to get my hands on it… which after many, many years of enjoying this hobby I find amazing as they will be my first Fantasy foray. Big thumbs up to MongooseMatt for a very nicely written review. |

Hemm! Can I say Thor and his hammer from comicville. This is WH40K without bolters. Yes I do like the Sigmar bunch but my scalpel would bite deep to get em ready for my needs. Cheers |
