I ordered a bunch of not-40k 6mm scale models of my own creation from Shapeways, in addition to some unrelated other sci-fi models, and the lot arrived today. I thought I'd share some pictures on here.
What we have here is a platoon of the 55th Shenandoah Volunteer Infantry Brigade (Airmobile), a Shenandoah PDF unit deployed to the nearby Nagrara system, and a light mechanized platoon of the rebel forces it was sent to fight. I've been working on the board shown on-and-off for maybe two weeks on my days off. It is 15x40", equivalent to around 6x17' in 28mm scale, and lets me have a more realistic ground scale for platoon-level 6mm games. Buildings are card and balsa wood. |

Can these models be ordered to Shapeways? |

I think we are asking can we order these from Shapeways, SoutherPhantom, because those not-Valks are a delight! |

What material did you use? How does it paint up/hold detail? |

Could you post a link to those not-Valks? They are very nice. |

I used White Strong & Flexible for all models here. It absorbs more paint than I would like, but the resulting finish is completely immune to chips, scratches, and flaking. Detail level is good enough for me, and vehicles came out extremely crisp with all detail I added showing very nicely. These are not currently for sale on my Shapeways store, but I will change that after y'all started asking!! Some of the models will only be available in FUD for customers- as the creator, I can order in materials that Shapeways' automated system will flag for thinness. Most of the time, that is much ado about nothing. As these have already been successfully printed in WSF though, they might be orderable in that material. The not-Valks actually have a significant issue with their CAD file (my fault); the engines of one and horizontal stabilizer of the other are fused together. I'll need to fix that before putting them up for sale. Thanks for the feedback!!! |

link link First link is to the not-Valks; second is to the not-Vultures. The Vultures should be good to go in WSF for under ten dollars for two; I'm not sure about the Valks. I had to revise the model layout to fix a spruing problem, so Shapeways' system may not want them sold in WSF yet. It's worth a try, and they're both available in FUD for a (much, unfortunately) higher price. I've already painted my two Vultures, and the WSF detail level is quite satisfactory. They're darned sturdy as well! |

This is the airmobile platoon, plus two Vultures and some air-droppable light armor, fully painted up. They're only missing the four Valkyries and a pair of Tauros recon vehicles. |

Very cool. Just because GW won't support Epic doesn't mean somebody else can't fill the void. Now if only someone can do the same for those who want 15's… |

Just realized – YOU are the Galaxia maker as well! Now, that is a brilliant and *truly* unique concept and I am surprised you don't get more publicity for that! |
