I recently came across two works photo albums from Vickers Armstrong Ltd held by the Baemish Museum. They cover the period from 1915 to c 1945 fairly comprehensively. The Museum have provided me with digital images and given me permission to use them on line. "Tank development" might be a little misleading as it also covers half tracks and wheeled transport. The photos are very high quality and as far as I can tell are mostly unknown. I have now posted all the photographs from the first album with their original captions. I intend to add text to all posts over time. The photos from the second album will be posted in a coupe of weeks. I hope the blog will be welcome to anyone with an interest in the development of tanks and military equipment between the wars. It also might give the VBCW crew some ideas for unusual vehicles. The blog can be found here: tankdevelopment.blogspot.co.uk |
