I considering running another Traveller campaign, and usually use the venerable Spinward Marches setting. However, I realize that I neglect many of the interesting published adventures because I like to play with miniatures, but do not have any Droyne figures at all. Are there any currently available Droyne miniatures suitable to use with 25mm humans? I have some Vargr and a few Aslan stand-ins, but could probably use some more of each as well. If no Droyne are available, are there decent winged lizard-men that might make rough stand ins? |

There was a pack made by Grenadier I think that had Droyne it – I have about 6 of the figures, you may find some on eBay |

There is a guy on eBay who pirates them but otherwise pretty hard to find. Mega miniatures did a limited run pack with about 8 (maybe 6?) In it. The figures are a nice match, in my opinion, with the Grenadier Droyne BUT they have teeny tiny wings. I've not seen any of Megaminatures on eBay. I would love to have his Vagr. Somehow I missed seeing it but it was another 'limited' run so that's that. He also made some nice K'kree (3 to a pack) |

Droyne range from 1m to 2m tall. The RAFM 15mm examples are in scale as long as you only need Technicians, Drones, and Sports. |

Apparently a couple of 15mm Droyne in a larger set on eBay right now. Ah! Here's what you want: RAFM "Dracos" warriors. They're the actual old Citadel 15mm Droyne figures. link |

Someone may have purchased the Megaminis range(s), though it may take some time to get them resurrected. |

emckinney and Gypsy Comet, thanks those RAFM 15mm Dracos will do just nicely, I've ordered 2 packs. |

D&D Miniatures had one sculpt of 'winged kobolds' in plastic. They were pretty flimsy, but more or less the right scale. Might work with some modifications, or as decent stand-ins.

The MegaMinis ranges were done as limited editions and the moulds were destroyed. I've got the K'kree, the Bwaps, the Droyne, and the Vargr. Actually I'm pretty sure I've got most of the 25/28mm Traveller figures ever produced. I've even got all of the RAFM starships except the Mercenary Cruiser and the Modular Cruiser (grumble grumble) |

The problem with ANY range of K'kree is that you neef 25 to 50 of them for just about anything… and in that number are not just the ones with guns, but also valets, scribes, drivers, wivrs, and kids. |

A shame they were done as limited editions. I hate that. |

Well, the theory was that if they're going to be around for a while gamers will just put off buying them forever. So it made sense to try and force them to buy enough to cover the production costs. I think the Mega range had other issues and JD Lauck's perspective may be tainted by the fact that he was bringing back discontinued lines at discount prices. One thing I've learned running a store for the last three years is that people will spend just about anything for a miniature they like but people looking for a deal never think anything is cheap enough. |

I sculpt a bit to, well, passable in some circles, levels, and I've often thought about doing a science fiction range where each race gets around a dozen pieces with separate heads and hands and a vehicle or two with modular options. I always feel sf gets the short end of the stick in gaming, though admittedly realistic ranges and velocities don't work on the table top. Personally I lean towards 25mm but clearly the market likes 28mm better. |
