In the process of accumulating armies for Funny Little Wars games. I have mostly Armies In Plastic figs which fit the bill perfectly but I'm looking for a few stand alone Command figures in 54mm. Don't want to spend too much $$ on them if possible. Any recommendations? Oh, my opposing armies consist of Sudan era British vs Prussians. Thanks! Pete |

Why not use the mounted officer figures from the Armies in Plastic British Lancer and Prussian Uhlan sets? The AiP cavalry sets come with a mounted officer, trumpeter, and three mounted trooper figures -- not enough figures to constitute a large cavalry "unit." But if you buy two boxes of each you can field a cavalry squadron of eight figures: an officer, musician, and six troopers; and have a spare mounted officer and trumpeter left over for your command stand. Alternatively, the BMC American Civil War 54mm plastic sets have several decent mounted officers (Generals Lee, Meade, and Grant, I believe). You can often find them for very reasonable prices. I have the General Lee figure, and they paint up nicely for rather crude figures. You could do some conversions by swapping heads from your spare AiP British and Prussians. |
