We played 5 game using the Pike and Shot rules of One Hour Wargames last Thursday. Then I went away for the weekend and don't recall the particulars of the games aside from who won. I did take a few pictures and thought folks might like to see them. We used the damndest combination of figures, including Swiss pikes, assorted arquebusiers, Condottiere horse, pikes and halberds, medieval foot knights, Burgundian halberds and some Thirty Years War cavalry to round things off. The rules would seem to be Great Italian Wars, kind of. Excuse the strange mix of figures. the games were fun. Paul beat me the first game in about 30 minutes.
He then whomped Rick in less than an hour. After dinner he had to leave, escaping retribution. Next I beat Bill in about 40 minutes, then beat Rick in 33 minutes and Bill crushed me in 25 minutes. I'm not sure which games the following pictures go with. Like I said, long weekend.

Nothing wrong with the mix of figures, you were having a fun game not doing a magazine cover :) 5 games in an evening, fantastic,I envy you getting that much fun. Do these rules differ much from Neil's other rules ? I've the Ancient/Medieval set. |

You thought the Ancient/Medieval rules were simple? OHW are the definition of simple rules. Only 4 troop types in each period, 3 or 4 pages of rules in each period, 15 hits removes any unit from chariots to tanks. Two big changes from other One Hour rules: infantry (pike and shot) and reiters can move and then fire in the same turn. When firing, each rolls another die to see if they run out of ammo (1/3 chance). When out of ammo (not before) they can charge. That would be the units marked with red discs above. |
