Hey all. Just wondering if anyone has ever done an urban Vietnam scenario. I'm looking for 20mm buildings (or buildings that would fit 20mm) that would work for Hue City. Obviously, this could be a mix of different styles, with wrecked buildings … don't really no where to start, so any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks! |

They are not 20mm but nice. Perhaps you could use them as examples and look for something similar link |

Yes, the 15mm range from Timecast will work. I am working on a project now using these buildings and 20mm figures. BTW, if you are planning on making Historicon, we will have these in stock at the show. Doug |

I've done several Hue scenarios………..I used my scratch built polystyrene ruins for a 'Full Metal Jacket' feel………(the scene with the sniper-fimed in London) and also a mix of my 'French'( town buildings from various manufacturers) and 'desert' buildings for the suburbs ………mix in lots of lush trees and hedges, a canal/river if you can and some posters and road signs etc for effect, |

Google 'Hue city 1968 ' for images…………lots of 'Mediterranean' style stuccoed buildings with arches and large windows etc, balconies and pan tile roofs mixed in with ruins ( courtesy of the VNAF and the artillery!). |

benglish, you need to frequent Fields of Fire Reloaded link if you wargame Vietnam. Use the search function. There are loads of fantastic information and great game photos on that site. I have done some urban buildings for Vietnam in 20mm. Here is a link to an AAR with photos of a game I did using some of my urban buildings mixed as well as hooches. On all of my Fields of Fire Reloaded photos, click on them to enlarge them. link Here is a link to a conversion I did recently using an HO railroad building. link Here is a link that shows and describes some of the buildings in my Mini-Tet game above. link This item (Italeri 6086 Berlin House)is great for government buildings in Hue, like the Treasury Building. It takes a lot of painting, but it well worth it. It even has rooms. See the link. link This next one (Model Power 400 Town Hall), I will use for Hue as the Le Loi Elementary School. auction Very difficult to obtain in the U.S., Shell Hole Scenics has a fabulous French Café that will work for S.E. Asia. It has a great interior. The second photo on this link shows it. link Here is a good thread from Fields of Fire on Hue. It is six pages long, but lots are just "ooh and aah" comments. It is well worth looking at. link Tom |

I should have added that you will need tons of walls and some gates. Brick walls, rendered walls, all sorts of walls and fences. Wrought iron fences are common. Tom |

I forgot this one I bought from Gamecraft Miniatures but have not started on yet. link I would prefer it to be two story. I have not looked at what I got closely enough to see if I can easily make it two. Model railroad louvered shutters are of great help in converting building to look like S.E. Asia. Tile roofs can easily be applied over shingled roofs to help with the look too. Tom |

What we need is Asian shophouses – good for Vietnam/Malaya/Indonesia/Burma. Thee's a lovely card model available from Singapore, but way too hard for me to build…also we'd want them in 20mm and 28mm. |

Get a bunch of single and two storey adobe style MDF buildings, print out some colourful hoardings and store front canopies and stick 'em all together! Also use some cardboard ( the corrugated inside bit) to represent pan tiles, mounted to create an open storey on top of the plain adobe square buildings…..and projecting storefronts too……. It is amazing how posters and ad hoardings can 'set' a game table. |

Good thinking, unfortunately I am a modelling disaster area on a truly epic scale. |
