I added some 3d terrain to Armada that I picked up from space-rocks.net

I am quite pleased with the end result (They come painted, but I put a little extra work into them).

$57 USD with free shipping and 10% off with the code IFF2015.

I was about to say, seems a lot for some rocks. Even I can take some lava rocks, and…

Oh. Station. Oh. Derelicts.

And, then, I just hushed up… ;->=

(They come painted, but I put a little extra work into them).

Your additions are more than dramatic, and than I figure I can accomplish.

Well done, indeed!

No way, you can do it! I did nothing for the asteroids, and just a light drybrush on the station!

The derelicts got some more love, but it's totally achievable :)

That's right, no way can I do it… *lol*

Just teasing.

No offense to anyone but those prices are absolutely ridiculous. I saw the pack containing 4 turbolaser towers for $42.50 USD.

The Armada sets are a pretty good bargain actually.
The cost to do it yourself for the space station set would be $55.11 USD without the station and asteroids. That's just buying the ships and "damaging" them yourself. The set with the Gladiators would run you $67.55 USD and you'd need to "damage" them. If you did it yourself you wouldn't get the "legal" sized bases to place your wrecks on either. Just a thought.

I will agree with you on the Armada sets if you want to have damaged ships. For me I would not because unless you are setting up a permanent diorama there would be no need for them in a game. I however was referring to the asteroids and the turbolaser towers.

I did a huge astroid field for around 10 dollars when all was said and done. more than 50 rocks (lava rock for a bbq available almost anywhere) a can of black spraypaint drybush grey stone and white and walla one masive asteriod field. Add stands.

So we're in agreement about the rocks (I did mention lava rocks in the first reply) and that derelicts are also expensive, but impressive.

Though, at the prices, I would have expected something as kewl as IRC's paint additions.

As for not needed in the game, that's as the rules now stand. I've been cogitating some, and, anyway, corpses always add to a battlefield.

Ah sorry Beast I missed your Lava rock post.

to make space rocks you can ball up some aluminum foil and paint it to very good effect and very light weight.

The burning embers effect is AMAZING. Moves me to buy the set and then try to replicate it.
