I know in October, they're supposed to be starting their Cold War releases, so was curious to see if there are any info updates on what is to come, e.g. rules, minis, etc.?

ZZZzzzz…. and their forum has died down. No excitement – BF needs to figure out how to *keep* people interested.

Anxiously awaiting this. I can find nothing on it either.

So excited! Hoping for some tidbits of news any day now….

From Phil at Battlefornt in response to a post I made on their forums:

"Well, here's a tidbit.

The book is in proofing and Casey's taking the photos as we speak. Aaron has painted the models exquisitely. His MERDC is just awesome, but the arrows are still on their way.

Cheers"

Good to hear at least some work is getting done.

As mentioned in their first posting, it appears they're planning on the mid-1980s first.

Would love to see some vehicles and other items for the 1960s and 1970s too.

I'd really love to see some even further what-ifs. Not just M1s versus T72s, how about M60A2s and MBT70s versus IT1s?

It's a different rules engine underneath, and by all those I've talked to who are informed on the game its very much Team Yankee the game before anything else. That said those I've chatted with are being very guarded with real details, so I've no clue how different the game will be to v3.

XcaliburNick19 Jul 2015 11:01 p.m. PST

Different rules engine, McWong? That would be disappointing, as the base FoW rules seem to suit modern… Although I'd be interested to see an initiative/random-order activation.

McWong7327 Jul 2015 7:33 p.m. PST

Should clarify, word is that it's a modified version of the current engine.
Should be interesting either way, but I'm more keen on the figures than anything else.

Were M1s ever even painted in MERDC? Last I heard, they were kept in OD green until transitioning to three-color woodland camouflage.

The less said about the engagement range demonstrated, the better.

nickinsomerset31 Jul 2015 11:17 p.m. PST

Looks like the Sovs are equipped with BMP-2 and T-72, so far accuracy of artwork not very good!

Tally Ho!

McWong7302 Aug 2015 4:34 p.m. PST

It's Team Yankee the game, the book wasn't reliably accurate on the CFG oob to start with…

Still, plastic BMPs are damn cool.

Mako1102 Aug 2015 6:27 p.m. PST

I believe you are correct, SP.

I agree, SW73, assuming they pick the right, much more prevalent BMP-1s, of course.

Not that I'd mind BMP-2s, but they are a bit rare, so the early variant would be far more useful over a much wider period of the Cold War.
