"While the Army continues to upgrade existing M4s to the deadlier, more reliable M4A1, Army leaders have mapped out a whole new list of additional improvements to the legacy rifle.

The Army has requested from industry new enhancements to create what's called an M4A1+. The "plus" components would give the M4A1 an extended Picatinny rail, a floating barrel to enhance accuracy and an optional sniper-style single-stage trigger…"

not trying to hijack the thread, but I saw recently that Colt Firearms was filing for bankruptcy. article specifically mentioned the military's dissatisfaction with both the old M1911 as well as the M4 and that they were looking at an assault rifle similar to the FAL as well as another 9mm pistol from an unstated Belgian mfg.

any of you heard anything regarding this as well as more on the bankruptcy?

sorry, Tango, but I guessed that Colt would be the one working on the mods for the M4.
