The first conversion the internet knows of these beasts?

I don't have much use for an 8-foot golden not-Space Marine, but I do use for an 8-foot golden hoplite golem thing:

Parts are the White Dwarf Stormcast Eternal guy, head and shield from Wargames Factory greeks, hands from Chaos marines, and spears and shield apron from the Tomb Kings range.

That looks better than the miniature is supposed to look! I'd be all over AoS if these apes actually looked like this. Very nice work!

That does look really cool. Good idea. I have some extra parts from all those ranges. I might do this to mine.

Now I feel I missed out as my local GW had already sold out. :(

Thanks guys!

My local GW had sold out except for the manager's staff copy. The nice bloke sold me that.

That's a cool mod, show us the completed paint up when your finished Muerto.
Cheers

far better than the original, although I'm not excited by this kind of buly models

Do you konw how big are those heads compared to those of a Space Marine? Thanks

Muerto07 Jul 2015 9:37 a.m. PST

It turns out I don't have a normal Space Marine head. Hopefully these help.

Somehow that model reminds me of the old Chronopia Iron Guard models.

Thank you very much, Muerto! Very useful comparison

Hi all,

I got this fellow painted!

Editors: can I get this thread cross-posted to the fantasy gallery, please?

For those interested, the painting technique was a little complicated, due to Vallejo alcohol-based metallics. First I painted with Old Gold, as well as doing the non-metal parts. Next I coated with Future, followed by Testor's Dullcote, followed by repainting the Old Gold, highlighting with an Old Gold / Liquid Silver mix, followed by straight liquid silver. Then I added shading with mixes of Agrax Earth, Reikland Flesh and Nuln Oil with Future. This was not a wash, but careful placement.

The reasons for this are that I like the Dullcote finish on non-metallics, but it can etch metallics and make them matt – hence the future. Also, the second coat of Old Gold tends to disolve the first, so the barrier is needed. However, anything over the Vallejo metallics dulls their superior shine, so they must be the highest layer. The Future with the 'washes' makes them slightly less matt, sitting better on the metal.

He was a joy to paint but sadly he'll never have any friends, as a box of 5 Stormcost Expensinators costs more here than I spend on petrol in a month.

That is a nice figure. The best use for these guys i've seen yet.
