Chaps and Chapesses,

I am making some of the above and am wondering what colour to paint them. Do I use Panzer Grey or Dunkelgrau/Iraqi Sand. The latter having the advantage that I can use them for any future Afrika Korps force.

Cheers,

Karl

If you are using them in Tunisia, overall Afrika mustard is what I use. The color is darker than Iraqi sand. I use Testors Model Master 1955 FS 30266. If Russia, then Panzer Gray or Dunkel Gelb(dark yellow). Dunkel Gelb and Afrika mustard are not the same shade.

You can really go either way, as the service life of this tank overlapped the repaint period. Keep in mind, however, that if it has skirt armor, it would not be Dk Gray, but rather Dk Yellow (introduction of the skirt armor was 1mo after the switch over in base colors, and would have been done when getting an overhaul…and everything repainted). Note also that some dk gray vehicles could have camo colors applied, even in 1942 period.

Damon.
