Like many of you, we printed out the Warscroplls this morning, and had a bash this afternoon, Wood Elves vs. Vampire Counts. You can see the results here; link |

Sounds good. For me the points issue is neither here nor there, so this tempts me to give it a go with my Empire and Skaven troops. |

With free-to-download rules and stats, you really cannot go wrong… |

So what GW are saying that they broke the rules in 8th that they are now giving the taster to 9th away free? Then comes the box set at $125 USD and then the add-ons and ad nausium before you know it your in for 1000s of $s and the rules are ampped till they broke again, this is when marketing at GW start rubbing their hands again, beware cheer full devils bearing gifts ;) Cheers, nice stuff but feels like a deja vu cycle to me |

I wonder whether this game can slide in as a game of choice between low-model count skirmish and mass battles--it seems to have promise for that. That would be quite the coup for GW, and if they either create a true WFB 9th edition or an equivalent modification of AoS for BIG battles, then they might really come back against the inroads by some third party publishers. |

If they make something like this for 40k, I just might come back into the fold. Might. |

That is not AOS. Looks more like WFB |

"That is not AOS." Well, as they were using the AoS rules, I kinda reckon it actually was AoS. Instead of constantly whining about GW why don't you actually say what you think is a good fantasy game. Most reviews of this look positive. I'm sorry GW doesn't want you anymore. I feel for your loss. They took your money and betrayed you. After all that you did for them too. I had a similar experience when I was 14 and took a girl out for a pizza. Spent my money and she left me for another, broken hearted. All I can say is that time is a good healer. There will be another game. Chin up. |

The key is that you enjoyed yourselves. That is great to read and hope it continues! Erik |

Sounds like it was a fun, balanced game, despite the lack of points. I certainly wouldn't have liked to face those undead with the constant summoning. Thanks for posting the report. I enjoyed reading it. |

Thanks, your battle report encouraged me to ignore the hand-wringing and actually print out the rules, scenery, orc and wood elf lists. I also realized, amazingly, I can try this game, try a different company, or even go back to the edition my son and I were playing prior to this – What a revelation. Regarding points, on another post, having two sides with equal amount of wounds was suggested. |

Thanks for the bat rep. I am much more interested in seeing how AoS plays with the old armies than I am with the new models in the box set, so this was great. If I ever get around to trying it, I'll probably go for more scenario/story driven games to get around the lack of points. |

Most reviews of this look positive. Funny then we must be reading different reviews. |

"Regarding points, on another post, having two sides with equal amount of wounds was suggested." There are formations or something in the back of each of the lists. It seems like in most cases the formations are roughly equal to each other. Some are probably not so much, but the basic formation for each army seems to be about right. |

having two sides with equal amount of wounds was suggested Defeats the purpose of the game. Plus it would limit the use of my Ork & Goblin Army, which is well over 500 models. |
