I am working on a model of the Russian Po2 for a "Night Witch" and am trying to confirm which seat the pilot sat in if she was flying alone. I know many two seat trainers a pilot flying alone normally sat in the rear seat, but I am not sure that is the case with the Po2. If anyone knows or can refer me to a good source I would be very grateful.

Thanks,

Terry

Every image I find of the plane with one pilot, has that single pilot flying from the front. No solid source on that though.

Did the night witches plane look any different from all the other planes that flew those night missions? Just out of interest.

Thank you gentlemen, you have confirmed what I was thinking, and as the Race says in Turtledove's works – "It shall be done!".

If I recall correctly, some Soviet Ladies used this in combat at night. One crew would create a racket while the other crew would chop throttle and glide over to bomb?

Shuttleworth fly their PO2 with the pilot in front.

….and just closely enough to realise that that is the machine in the images….
