I played FoW WW2 years ago. Game wasn't bad but I didn't like the look and feel of tanks being crammed onto the table like it was rush hour on the Capitol Beltway. Now I'm looking for a simple and straightforward WW1 game, and FoW WW1 seems like a viable option for numerous reasons. I like the level and of play and availability of the figs. My question is, now that it's been out a while does it seem like a decent game? Is it a standalone set or do I need to but the FoW WW2 core set? Are the WW1 figs metal or plastic? |

You will need the rulebook for FoW to play. It is a good set for what is a standalone section of the game. Tanks are in the WWI set, but they do not overwhelm the game. The figures are metal, though that may change as they are getting to release more items for WWI. The army box sets are a good value for either side. |

I talked to a few people who played with it and they said it was pretty fun. Basically, it's a differently flavoured FOW, so if you liked that okay, you'll like this one too. |
