I have been able to find a bunch of posts and guides saying that wire is really good for making vines. I've found some of the gardening wire that's wrapped in some kind of green fabric, but I have no idea how I'm going to make the leafy bits. Unfortunately nothing I've found actually says how to add leaves to the wire when making vines. Does anyone happen to have any suggestions, or a link to a guide that actually does explain how to make leafy vines using wire? |

Check out this link here link Scroll about 2/3 the way down and look for the single building on a blue background. The growth going hp the side of the building might be what you're looking for. Is undergrowth from woodland scenic. link Here is the explanation of how it's used. link This isn't my buildings just one that I really liked. |

A buddy of mine has really nice looking vines. It's been a while since he told me how but I believe it was two wooden posts connected by a metal wire. He covered the wire in pva and dipped it in oregano. Looks very leafy and believable. Hope that helps |

Wouldn't the oregano just crumble after a while, or is it sturdy enough to survive regular handling? |

Try varnish afterward to secure it. Dried tea leaves work well too. |

You could get our hand made ones:
They are 150mm long and £4.00 GBP each. They are not listed on our website, but if you drop me an email, using the address on the contacts page, you can order some. |

Do you mean creeping vines like this?
From this page link If that's a 'yes' then I made them from stuff in the Antenocitis Workshop site – vines and leaves – but I can't find them on their site now, I'm afraid. John T |

Yea, the creeping vines are the ones I'm wanting to make. |

That was a natural fibre though I expect wire would also have worked with added shaped leaves (which came in little packets in different colours – green and brown) stuck on all with their tacky glue. If you drop Antenociti a line referencing those photos they may be able to point you in the right direction. John T |

How about something more like jungle vines? Is there something I could use for the larger, more sparse leaves on jungle vines? |

Woodland Scenics makes a vine kit. It's a wad of green stuff, and REALLY stretches out to make vines as thick or thin as needed. Look great, and a coat of matt clearcoat stiffens em up.
No way you can scratchbuild vines as easily and as cheaply as that 5 buck bag. |
