You'd think that someone would have noticed by now that we know what the rhomphaia really looked like, and would be using the excavated ones (as illustrated for example in Chris Webber's two books, or link ) instead of copying the drawings from my AMPW from 30-odd years ago.

I think it would be very difficult to sculpt, cast or have survive on the table top something as thin as your link GurKhan. Wouldn't a falx (which is what most companies seem to use) be an acceptable substitute?

You could make up the master in brass that thin, but it would not cast so well and indeed be flimsy and break easily.

Then again you could probably go a bit thinner than the ones in the pic.

A lot of weapons are hard to cast exactly as thin as the originals; I think it could be done a bit thinner as David said, but I'm not expecting the impossible. But it's not just the thickness that's iffy on these, but the profile, the fitting in the centre, the detail at the end of the hilt…

The figures shown don't seem to be able to makeup their minds if the blade edge is on the inside or the outside of the curve.

Ah, 20mm. I was hoping for 28mm.
They look good.

Glad you like them my friend.
