So I was thinking of starting a Frostgrave warband and since the rules are not out yet, I don't know what to paint. So you need a Wizard and an apprentice? Then some hired thugs? Summoned monsters? How big can warbands be? I need a target number. Thanks, Xin |

Look here more details. Most you can have is 10 in the party. link |

If you have the right spells you may start out with a summoned monster (or two), as I've understood it. |

I'm having a hard time finding info on this. I gather it's Mordheim, but in the snow. Is that close? |

Sure looks like it! 500gc to build your warband and off to the mayhem! |

I asked this question on another thread, but didn't get an answer. I had a look at the soldiers list –
Why would you take a Templar over a Knight? The stats are the same except the Knight gets an additional point of armour. I can't see a benefit of having a Templer other than to match a particular figure. |

I don't have the rules but I would wager there is a specific rule accompanying the templar. Advantage vs undead for example. |

@Only Warlock Thanks for that. That hadn't occurred to me. Guess I should wait for the rules to come out! |

The Templar has a two-handed weapon, and so is more lethal against bigger monsters and such. He basically trades a point of armor (no shield) for better offense (two-handed weapon). I haven't seen any indication Templars have a bonus against undead. And the points cost for knights and Templars is the same, so I suspect there is no such bonus (otherwise the Templar would need to cost more than the knight). This game was in playtesting for well over a year, so hopefully it will hang together well. Everything I have seen so far looks very well thought-out. |

"He basically trades a point of armor (no shield) for better offense (two-handed weapon)." So where is that factored in? Because they both a fight of +4. If the Templer had a fight of +5 I could understand it. I realise I haven't seen the full set of rules, so I'm probably missing something else that needs to be taken into account. Is there different rules for bigger monsters then? |
Ivan DBA | 08 Jul 2015 4:53 a.m. PST |
Certain weapons have their own rules & modifiers. So it is factored in by virtue of the Templar being equipped with a Two-Handed weapon, which in turn has a bonus over a regular sword. In other words, I think that in some cases, the stats you see can be modified by the weapon used. I thought I had seen the actual weapon list somewhere, but I can't find it now. |

@Ivan DBA Thanks for being patient in answering my question. Guess I'm impatient to see the rules! |

I just hope I answered correctly… I'm just going from what I've managed to glean online! I definitely am impatient to get my hands on the rules and the awesome figures. |

I am going to build a Necromancer-based warband I think. I have a few old school GW thugs from WHFB 3rd-4th ed that will work spectacularly. |

Those old school thugs are great, sounds like a good idea. |

Why would you take a Templar over a Knight? Oh how about the fact that he comes with a Two-Handed Sword instead of Sword & Shield. |
Norrins | 08 Jul 2015 11:30 p.m. PST |
Yes I know he comes with a Two Handed sword, but what's the benefit in the game? So far, based on what's been suggested is a modifier to a stat. Guess we'll have to wait for the game to be released to know for sure. |

Just in case this is still an open question: the two-handed sword provides +2 damage over hand weapons. (Daggers, Staves, and Unarmed similarly have modifiers from the base damage). So the Templar is trading out his shield and reducing his armour rating for better damage if he connects. |
