Not specifically wargames but definitely relevant…and now, with ADDED WARGAMES (see below)

If you're in the area, Tewkesbury Medieval Festival is next weekend – 11/12th July. FREE! It's free!! (parking charge applies)

Link here, link

biggest in Europe, big battle both days, go to the abbey afterwards (I THINK Saturday only, don't quote me) for the beheadings.
Huge market where you can get capes and swords and all that, but also various modern trinkets (hooray I hear you cheer!)

Mythago Morris – The best morris "troupe" out there! Combining morris with scary ass costumes, beardy tattooed biker dudes and folk tale storytelling (and a huge DRUMMMMM)

Graham Turner Art – dude who does loads of Osprey illustrations, fantastic stuff. Prints and originals to buy (as well as postcards), and meet the guy!

Dragons! Alchemy doing various dragon goodness. They have some really cool dragon puppets which are disturbingly realistic, kids love them.

Weird stuff like snakes and ferrets (not together!) birds of prey!

It's a pretty big site and part of the original battlefield, so good for a stroll too.

AND I MANAGED TO SET UP THE WARGAMES THING IN THE END!

So two lovely chaps – Mark and Phil will be running a 28mm Wars of the Roses game, participation and people encouraged to take part (rather than – go away!) so hey even if you're one of the "pah, men in tights, I think NOT!" – your partner and/or kid could go have a lovely day, and you can hide in the tent playing soldiers, and still get points. This will be on both days.

and of course a huge beer tent with all sorts of ales and ciders, and mead and funky wines.

And I'll be there, dragging sacks of rubbish around in high viz, sweating and grumbling, so if you see me, come say hi and everything.

(taking a week off to help out the festival as site crew!)

Here you may find me in 2010, admiring the excellent signs I had just painted, with a fine mead. (There's lots of my paintings dotted about, back in the days before I got drawn into the glamorous world of recycling organisation!)

Great signs, Annie … thumbs up!

Phil
(and as an organiser of the Naseby 370 event a couple of weeks back, I know how important the signage is!!!)

Enjoy!

Sounds wonderful.

Wish I could go, but it is about 6,000 miles away, and across a very large pond, so attendance is doubtful.

If the travel funds were available, I'd be there.

Sounds like a great weekend, hope it goes well for all concerned.

I do hope those signs were put up pointing in opposite directions, nothing like a bit of Fog of War.

Cheers guys!

Just a bump as it is this weekend :D

Heading off this evening myself to help with the set up!
