Thanks. I have v1 and like it. It will cost at least .92cents to download the beta, which I did. |

It's asking me for money. |

It's asking me for money. It does, but if you enter £0.00 GBP in the "Name a fair price" box it lets you download them for free. |

So … anybody read them yet? Thoughts? |
Servo3000 | 02 Jul 2015 8:07 a.m. PST |
My initial impression is that they are now more designed for people entirely new to table top miniatures and are simplified and streamlined accordingly. That's fine, but I fear the unique charm of the original is missing as well, though perhaps that aspect is just stripped from the Beta test version. There was a breezy informality and quirky humor in 7TV which seems to be gone. Again, this may be only because this is a Beta version. |

Hi, I've downloaded the rules and skimmed them. From what I've read they seem to be more streamlined than the original and have some new mechanisms like opposed roles for hitting in ranged or close combat. I'm sure they will play well and be entertaining but I have to say I'm not pleased that the original version is being replaced, especially since it's not that old. Frankly I'm really sick of companies who follow the GW model of rewriting and reissuing new editions of rules every few years. I like the original game and I'm going to keep playing it. I'd rather spend my money on completely new games than new editions of ones I already have. I also find that I'm playing more and more Pulp Alley instead. In my opinion it's a much better system for playing the same type of games as 7TV and even though the mechanisms in 7TV2 seem much more modern and innovative than 7TV they still can't match the level of innovation in Pulp Alley. All the best, George |

George – we're glad you love first edition! We've tried to do this for all the right reasons and as fairly as possible – making 2E free as well as the conversion of 1E material into the new format. We're not some big mercenary corporate, there's just the two of us and we're gamers too – so try to treat customers how we'd like to be treated :) The core rules have been around for over ten years as they have their roots in DWMG. We loved the system, but simply we thought it could better. The system rewards the investment of time to create casts, but many folks found this a barrier to playing, so we have tried to make it easier to pick up and play. Servo3000 – yep this beta is for people to test the rules and have been designed for ease of home printing and tablet use. We will be releasing a deluxe set and that will have have all the whimsy and charm we can cram into it! Cheers Karl Crooked Dice |

Karl, Thanks, I shall sleep better knowing the whimsy is on the way! I hope you know my comments were meant to be positive. I love 7TV and 7th Voyage both as games and great reads. |
