Nice, pushing the Grexit along nicely I see :) (no disrespect to our Hellenic brothers here just my poor humour).
Those Guard/Imortals are very nice and colourful assuming Xystron minis? Persians are a hard army to do but always look great
Cheers

No they are Old Glory as are the 'line' cavalry. They often come up quite nicely. I do have some Xyston to paint.

Marshal Mark01 Jul 2015 8:18 a.m. PST

They look good. It seems to be an unusual basing scheme you've gone for though. What are they, 30mm frontages ? Not very compatible with most other ancient armies you will come across.

Oh Bugger01 Jul 2015 8:45 a.m. PST

Yeah 30x30 for infantry and 30x40 cavalry Piquet style. I always paint both sides so compatability is not a problem.

Also two cavalry per base rather than three has a certain economic charm.

thumbs up!

Excellent work! I am working on a persian army in 28mm (what was I thinking?) so I always find pics of painted persian miniatures to be good reference. And EXCELLENT work.on the hand painted hoplite shields!

Cheers for that, its appreciated. I just noticed the blind octopus after it was posted.

goragrad01 Jul 2015 12:04 p.m. PST

AH, an octopus – thought mayhap it was a tick…

Nice work, by the way.

Or a spider.

Zargon02 Jul 2015 10:34 a.m. PST

OG interesting, are they compatible to mix with Xyston? Also your doing Piquet I was thinking of doing my units in 1;2 sized Impetus blocks so as to do more than one set of rules. Does Piquet which has me more than intrigued have a strong and hard basing? Or more open? I tent to do both sides too as a Solo player, and anyone where can I get a st of the master rules without paying 22$ just for postage Ouch!
Cheers those OG do paint nice.

Oh Bugger02 Jul 2015 1:53 p.m. PST

Yes with earlier Xyston.

Piquet accomodates any basing system. If you are interested you could buy Piquet Pulse of Battle which is a complete rule set

If you want to stick a toe in the water you might ask James Roach to send you his Punic War rules that are very Piquet. James is a talented rule writer and his blog is called Olicana Lad. He posts here and is a painter of great renown.

Hi OB thanks for the head up and will contact James too, and yes he paints beautifully.
Cheers again
