Hi

I found in the drawer a 16 figure set of 25mm minifigs labelled "French Chasseur mounted band".

I wrote minifigs in the search for uniforms but they could not help.

Does anyone have idea as to what the relevant uniforms could be. On the web I can find description of the regimental trumpeters – and one option is to make the whole band this way.

But I was unaware that each regiment had a full band (with various pipes and drums) and was wondering if there might have been a more formal combined "chasseur a cheval band".

Any thoughts on this?

Although there were attempts to suppress them, most of the Chasseur à Cheval regiments did maintain their own mounted bands. In general terms, uniforms were usually in reversed colors like the trumpeters. Some used distinctive headgear in place of the shako, czapkas being a popular choice. Kettle drummers are usually depicted dressed in Mamluke style.

Wow thanks for the responds – they have helped a great lot. Now only a few minor questions remain.

My miniatures are wearing colpacs instead of shakos so I am assuming they are considered part of the "elite/1.st company" of the regiment?

this comes from the following link (found elsewhere on tmp)
link

the pompom?: on the link by "camcleod" the bandsmen/trumpeter on plate 71,72,73 have different colour pompom. Assuming they are related to the "1.company" (due to the colpacs) should the pompon then not be red?

the plume?: according to the link above the trumpeter have white plumes. On the uniform plates the top of the plume are en the regimental colour? I cant find a description of this anywhere? does anyone have a link that describes this practice?

the "shirt" (I dont know the correct term). What is the reason for the different way the shirt looks. On plate 71 it is with white horisontal strips, on plate 72 he is wearing a sort of overcoat and on plate 73 it is a third variant with buttons. I am quite new to this so this might be basic "chasseur a cheval questions":)

Thats it for now – hope to hear from you again

Trumpeter uniforms were at the whim of the Colonel and were usually in reverse colours with added lace and trim. Musician uniforms were even more elaborate.
The vest under the coat in plate 72 has white lace added to the edges and across the button-holes.
Also, while the colpack was worn by the troopers of the Elite Co. it appears that the trumpeters of all companies of the 7th wore that headgear at some point. And the Gallica plates show the band in colpack as well.

ahh I see – lots of variations. Good answers – thanks!

Your links have helped me a lot and now the painting can begin:) Unfortunately the figures are an old lot of minifigs, and a bit worn down – but I shall post a picture ones done:)

Thanks to you all!
