Been sitting on this since forever and been itching to put it to use again.

Kitted the wife out with 5 law men in light armour and with laser rifles, 1 auto laser and a sergeant with a bolt pistol, taking down a bunch of lightly armed perps guarding a terrorist.

One lawman died (managed to fail every armour check he had to make) and one got wounded pretty bad.
The gangsters got mown down though and a well placed gas grenade through the window took down the target.

The difference in impact between a bolt weapon and a laser was not lost on my opponent either!

The game is still wicked fun, though it's certainly a product of its age: LOTS of modifiers and lots and lots and lots of D100 rolls.

Still, went well and we'll probably turn it into a mini-campaign.

(Also, I managed to misplace the box of Laserburn figures when we rearranged the living room, so we ended up playing it with some repainted ww2 figures. Embarrassing!

Sounds like fun.

That is unfortunate.

That's when you need a box of prepainted, Star Wars clix figs – especially the rather random, non-SW-esque characters that can be used in almost any Sci-Fi setting.

Keep them on hand for emergencies.

Weasel29 Jun 2015 5:15 p.m. PST

yeah, I may need to grab some of those.

I know i didn't throw out the box but the gaming shelf is full of little boxes and I couldn't be bothered to dig through all of them :-)

Yea, that is annoying.

I finally bought a fine-tipped Magic Marker, and have now started listing an inventory of all the contents on the two ends of the box. Works great for finding stuff, instead of having to sort through everything.

For boxes where there's too much detail to list, I still put the general description on the ends, e.g. type of minis and scale, and then add an inventory sheet inside the top of the box, so you can find it immediately upon opening. Works well.

Of course, I store some minis in those see-through, flat, fishing tackle boxes as well (I think they're designed as inserts for the larger boxes, to carry worms, and other lures), which are convenient too. Used those for many of the SW clix figs. The rectangular ones hold a lot of figs, e.g. probably a couple of platoon's worth of Stormtroopers and opponents.

Nice, that's a good system.

I've started buying up some of those clear plastic boxes that people use for beads and other craft items, so you can see through them. Got some for ASL but I'll put them to use for miniatures as well.

Yea, I use the clear ones too – especially the ones for large spools, with the upright rods in them. Add a magnet to their tips, and they make nice aircraft storage boxes.

Probably not safe enough for all but the most careful transit, but good enough for most storage around home.

I've used some of the smaller, thin, rectangular ones for storing aircraft, or other minis that I'm prepping/painting, to keep the dust off them. Since they're crystal clear, they make for nice little display cases as well.

The Laserburn rules are still available, along with the original figures – an excellent game. :-)
