Off these boards that is.

For me, in no special order, probably

Whirlwind
Von Winterfeldt
Basileus

and many others. All knowledgeable and you can argue with them without falling out while learning something.

Not an exclusive list. Who's on yours?

Weasel29 Jun 2015 2:01 p.m. PST

A poster?

Just Jack, Kyoteblue, Rod Robertson or whatever his name is, Martin Rapier and War Panda.

And everyone who've bought one of my games :-)

The list of people i think are cool is longer than that, but I felt like I should stick with 5 names.

Weasel29 Jun 2015 2:47 p.m. PST

Oh, I'd play an AWI game with the OFM but only if he played the English :-)

Rrobbyrobot29 Jun 2015 2:48 p.m. PST

Security Minister Critter. I sure do miss him…

Winston Smith29 Jun 2015 2:50 p.m. PST

I have no problem with the British.
I will be like Cornwalis and take all the Guards, all the Grenadiers, all the LI and the 33rd Foot.

Winston Smith29 Jun 2015 2:52 p.m. PST

If like to play AWI with SuperMax.

I would like to play Blind Man's Bluff with Jennifer Lawrence or Rhianna.

I'd like to play with all of the guys who want to play with me.

Scott Bowden
Bill Haggart

Lots of others but these are the names that prop up like that right now when due to see the inside of my eyes, instead of procrastinating on tmp.

Everybody, any game. Preferably all at once(a loooong table).

Rod I Robertson29 Jun 2015 4:45 p.m. PST

Wow!?! There are so many and apologies to any worthies I omit to mention.
WW I – Kyoteblue.
WW II – Jemima Fawr, Abwehrschlacht and Martin Rapier.
Modern Skirmish – Weasel and Just Jack (And my real name is Rod I Robertson, Weasel). They would play together and I would still beat them!
Modern Micro Armour – Mako 11 and Jarrovan.
WW I Aerial Combat and a street scrap right afterwards – War Panda and his brothers in law.
Any Naval game and I would lose pathetically – David Manley and William Hartley.
Modern Aerial Combat – CAG 19 and Just Jack and they'd clean my clock.
Ancients – there are too many to list.
Sci Fi game in 6mm – Legion 4.
A conversation about game design – Weasel and John D. Salt. I'd shut up and just listen and learn.
And there are so many more.
Cheers.
Rod Robertson.

Anyone who can put up with me laughing whilst they defeat me (if there's anything better than a plan coming together it is the hilarity of watching one fall apart…)

138SquadronRAF30 Jun 2015 8:04 a.m. PST

I'd love to play Tango01

For Napoleonics:

Basileus,
Kevin Kiley,
Gazzola.

I don't always agree with them, but I would like the opportunity.

Naval, especially pre-Dreadnought – David Manley

War Artisan – fellow lover of scenario driven games and craft beer.

20thmaine – because we have the same approach to defeat.

The two Peters – Young and Gilder. (But I would watch them like a hawk!)

M C MonkeyDew01 Jul 2015 6:31 a.m. PST

Saw this on the Napoleonics board and thought it referenced historical characters.

Napoleon would be no fun. Either a rules lawyer or a cheat. Perhaps both.

Wellers would complain it was nothing like real war and go fox hunting instead.

Mack would take forever to complete his turn.

Bluecher would be my choice. Think he would have embraced the fun of it all and be a good mate to boot.

andysyk01 Jul 2015 7:08 a.m. PST

Patton wonder what he would do if his figures routed…..

Old Wolfman01 Jul 2015 7:11 a.m. PST

Played already with a few of the bunch here on TMP . Trying to recall who, though.

uglyfatbloke01 Jul 2015 7:27 a.m. PST

If like to play AWI with SuperMax.

I would like to play Blind Man's Bluff with Jennifer Lawrence or Rhianna.

OK, but let's get them the right way round this time – that last meeting was a bit disappointing for both of us IIRC!!! Seriously, I'm extremely flattered, OFM/Winston, and I would love to get the chance to play with your eclectic collection.

AWI – I've already mentioned OFM, but I think any of the US regulars off the AWI board on here, as they are all such charming chaps (and one of them at least, must be worse at dice-rolling than me); most of the UK guys I've already played with/against anyway (also splendid chaps, but sadly all much better dice rollers than me!).

Napoleonic – I don't know enough about the people on there, but I would probably choose Rod MacArthur or Lord Hill for their knowledge of the British forces, and von Winterfeldt for my Bavarian interests.

Renaissance (incl. WSS) – Danile S: the man is a mine of information and so polite and generous with it.

WW1 – monk2002, for the same reasons as Daniel S.

WW2 – Jemima Fawr……for reasons that I am too ashamed to repeat in public (and who would also be 1st reserve for the Napoleonic gig, due to his fantastic AB collection).

"most of the UK guys I've already played with"

I concur… He was pretty good at Blind Man's Buff, but I beat him at Twister.

Oh and another vote from Rod! :)

I'm flattered, but one of you will have to sleep in the shed.

That said, invoking the spirit of Groucho Marx, I'm not sure that I want to wargame with anyone who wants to wargame with me! ;)

Jemima Fawr03 Jul 2015 5:20 a.m. PST

For me there are quite a few (I'm easy…):

SupMax (despite my better judgement – just for the sarcastic barbs across the table)
Ditto/Tim
Etranger
Von Blucher
Juergen
Piers
Dallas
Nick in Somerset (we only found out that we worked in the same place the week after he retired and moved back to Somerset – Aargh!!)
Ochoin
Bill Slavin
Rod Robertson
and probably a dozen others…

And in the 'too late' category:
Allen
Mark Hayes

Yup, he was on here saying that he wouldn't have to drive down there any more…

:(

oh yeah, 20th Maine… ;)
