The breaking rumors from a few sites suggest that this will indeed be an entirely new game rules- and fluff-wise, in line with the most extreme of predictions by some early rumor mongers. It will be interesting to see the reception, but if what is breaking is accurate, this Age of Sigmar-edition game will be far more a "replacement" of Warhammer than a new edition. It sounds like an entirely new game that you can just play with your old minis. |

And…YAWN…may be it is a wonderful new game, I have my doubts. More likely this is GW's reaction to loss of sales to other fantasy game platforms such as Malifaux, Warmahordes, and possibly Manic's fantasy rules systems. I have not played Warhammer Fantasy in years but as of yet cannot let go of my collection. Actually I did attempt to do this a while back but interest in buying old Warhammer Fantasy armies clearly has bottomed out. I have even seen the same issue with 40K. I supposed the bubble has burst. |

4 pages of rules? How much depth can there be with only four pages of rules? Chuck |

I think they have radically overreacted to correct WHFB's decline. Their real problem is price point, IMHO. People still -want- to be loyal to them. All that Old World fluff, gone. |

The figures look more like 40K than fantasy. Lost me there. |

ChuckO5 4 pages of rules in not necessarily a bad thing. Of course what is in the those 4 pages will tell the tale. However here is another issue, how many of GW's current and active players of Warhammer Fantasy be happy with this? All those HUGE monster filled armies are now (NOT?) supported? Of course GW has never been concerned about retention of its older players and I see this as more of a reaction to a changing market and attempting to reclaim some of the fantasy gaming pie. It might even be successful depending on what form this new game systems takes. Intrepide, not sure that price point has really had an impact where GW executives are concerned. I see plenty of folks who want to spend their disposable income on GW miniatures and other product. Then again you may be right. I know I personally could not justify starting in Warhammer Fantasy or 40K at this time. |

The models and the round bases remind me of Chronopia. Pics of the new models are already on the net. |

They forgot one line : "And all this can be yours for only £29,999.00 GBP" Seems they are redoing everything in a new "house style" Kislev, Empire and Bretonnia had to die because they could be proxied with historic plastics, they will probably redo all the other races to maintain exclusivity and render other ranges incompatible. Might have more of an impact than most suspect as it could alienate faithful gamers and sink several companies who provide GW alternatives. |

Sadly and ironically, the new humans looks like lame attempts to imitate Mantic, Warmachine, and perhaps even Chronopia. Or just Space Marines without bolters. It's an interesting gamble on their part, abandoning the Old World. Sad for those of us who played Warhammer in the good old days. But probably a smart move, given how sluggish Fantasy sales have supposedly been. Worst case, if Age of Sigmar tanks, they could always just make the new version a Warhammer 9th edition after all… I can't help but think that the Corporate overlords told the game and figure designers to "make Fantasy more like 40k"…. |
