Just wondering what your top 3 to 5 are in quality for vehicles and infantry. 15mm WW2

Lion in the Stars28 Jun 2015 6:56 p.m. PST

PSC for vehicles, full stop. Low cost and excellent quality.

Infantry really varies by range. BF's Japanese are excellent. Their 2nd generation US Paratroopers are not (which is doubly sad because their first set of paras were excellent).

Another PSC for vehicles. I give them the nod for Infantry as well. Runner up is Peter Pig for Infantry.

McWong7328 Jun 2015 7:11 p.m. PST

1st gen Flames of War infantry and guns across the board tops my list. Peter Pigs and Forged in Battle are also good.

PSC for vehicles, but second place would be close between BF and Peter Pig.

Peter Pig and Forged in Battle are excellent for infantry. Don't have a preference for vehicles – many good companies out there.

Yea, 1st Gen. FOW troops were very nice (some of the later ones were horrible).

Essex make a very nice range of 15mm WWII troops as well.

Can't comment on the plastic vehicles in this scale, but I do like some of the WWII vehicles. Some are better than others.

I really like Eureka's Japanese infantry. And the Sentinel tank, too.

Fat Wally28 Jun 2015 10:22 p.m. PST

Peter Pig for infantry. PSC for vehicles.

Vehicles reflect a preferance for plastic.

Yesthatphils infantry list is identical to mine, but I have a soft spot for some of QRF's and true north's stuff

PSC's recent infantry would be something I would consider for use if they were lead.

Vehicles , I actually like some of everybodys, so I couldnt even do a top six. special favourites are PP,BF and PSC. However, some QRF trucks are just the best.

Peter Pig Infantry, then Battlefront Infantry (re-headed with PP heads). PSC for vehicles with Battlefront/FoW to fill the gaps in resin and plastic (FoW plastics are excellent and often allow multiple configurations).

Thank you all.

I've got a local store (well….30 minute drive local) and I really want to support him, but he ONLY carries FOW stuff. PSC tanks look nice and they're half the cost, but he doesn't carry PSC and won't try too.

Sometimes local retailers make it so hard to support them :)

Weasel29 Jun 2015 2:03 p.m. PST

Peter Pig and Battlefront. Yes, I know, they aren't really the same at all but I dig both of them a lot.

I don't have any QRF ww2, but if they are like the moderns they do, they're no doubt excellent.

For vehicles, I tend to just buy Battlefront since they have them locally and I get consistent looking vehicles that way. Buying multiple 15mm Sherman and having them all be different sizes… no dice.

Quality Castings by 19th Century
Forged in battle Infantry (not a fan of resin tanks)
PSC vehicles
Zvesda even if the selection is limited.

Weasel30 Jun 2015 9:41 a.m. PST

I should add, the Old Glory 15mm Soviets I have are very sharp, dirt cheap obviously and you got a decent variety of poses.

The Germans I got from them were a lot less satisfying. Not sure if it was poor sculpts or the moulds were just old and worn.

wizbangs02 Jul 2015 5:33 a.m. PST

I have a local retailer who is the same way: I buy PSC as long as they're available & the retailer won't carry them. So most of my vehicle business (and more of my infantry) goes to buying from PSC direct.

I've even tried ordering through the retailer to help support his business & he sat on the order for a month because he "didn't have enough to cover shipping." I used to own a retail store. I know how much shipping is and I know how big your margins are. Either ask me to cover shipping or tell me you aten't going to place the order.

I concur: it's difficult to support the local shops when they lack the service that SHOULD distinguish them from an online shop.
